Are 2g turbo & n/t pistons different?

It's exactly as the title says. I got a set of pistons from someone and 1 is different and the machine shop tells me it is a n/t piston. So how do i tell if it is a n/t piston for sure?

So 1 piston is different than the other 3? Do you really want to use different pistons in your motor?

Measure the diameter. 2G N/T pistons have a slightly larger diameter.

I didn't know that 1 was different from the others i bought them in the classifieds as a set of 2g turbo pistons but something isn't right.

Also how is the 8.5:1 compression achieved with the 2g piston vs the 1g? What's the difference in the pistons?

2g pistons are 8.5:1 and usd 1g pistons are 7.1:1 i think, but jdm 1g pistons are 8.5:1 too but have a smaler wrist pin for 1g rods.

420a motor has diffrent bore and stroke compared to the 4g63t.
i dont have the specs for the 420a but you can find it on the net, its alot like a B18c honda motor.

1g pistons are 7.1:1 i think,

7.8:1 for turbo 1G and 9:1 for 1G non-turbo 4G63s

Is it the color?
Do they have a different shape?

The turbo pistons should say 63dt on the top.

What you have to rember is in the 2Gs the nonturbo and turbo engines are completly different... The non turbo engines are a DOHC DODGE engine ( the same used in neon rt's ) while the turbo engine is a 4G63. NOTHING is interchangeable... Be careful...

US and JDM 1g pistons are all 7.8:1.

The height of the piston is what is different. The 7.8 being the shortest, then the 8.5s, with the N/T 9:1s being tallest. This height will be measured from wrist pin to top of piston. The shop should be able to measure this for you.

With a 4g63 piston the height is not going to be changed, the dish is the difference.

Ok guys i'm back. So the dish is the difference then huh. After looking at the 1g, 2gT, and 2gN/T i can see the difference in dish. So it appears that i got 3 N/T pistons and 1 turbo piston so needless to say that i was rather upset when i found that out. So i've got new 2g pistons coming tomorrow so now i just have to take care of these mismatched one's. Also the ring lands aren't in the same spot on the 2g pistons (turbo & N/T) and i was told they take a different ring pack between T & N/T.
