Non-turbo And Turbo Cranks Different????

Alright.....i was doing a headgasket on my gf's 91 fwd turbo and went to change the rod bearings as well.....when i went to take the rod caps off i noticed the rods had TONS of play...like 1/8th inch side to side. Then i looked more into it....and they are NON turbo rods and pistons!!!!! Now i set the non turbo rod/piston next to a turbo one...and the turbo rod is wide enough to remove the play in the crank. My question is....is there a difference between a non turbo and turbo crank....and another quik question...are 90 rods bigger then 91 and + or do all 1g's have the big rods....PLEASE HELP!!!!

big rods only came in the 90-early 92 dsms w/ 6-bolts.

I would have to say that 90-92 n/t and turbo cranks and rods are all the same. I know this because I have a n/t crank in my car.

The pistons/rods that i pulled out of this motor are WAY different than the 1g turbo pistons i got from my friend...

the pistons are different but the rods should be the same.

There is supposed to be some play on the rods. Thats where the oil escapes.

you should have some play left to right because oil floats the rod when there's pressure.

however your rods should NOT move in the other direction... if they do, the bearings are effed

hmm are you sure it was 1/8th of an inch? did you measure it? thats quite a bit

Its alot more than it should be.....just about 1/8th inch....someone messed around with the motor before.....im thinkin maybe they put hyundai 1.8 or 1.6 rods/pistons??? if the non turbo and turbo rods are the same then i have no idea what these are.
