Well I saw this at the parts store:

VHT Nite-Shades™ Red

And was wondering if anybody with a red DSM has used this stuff on their taillights? Does it come out smooth and glossy or is it more translucent than the black?

I just wanted to know if it would make my tails on my red 2G appear to be matching the color of the car.

I've never used it, but I did redo my taillights to be all red (didn't like the Talon red/orange/white combination). And The candy red works really well as a translucent red color.

Ive never used it, I believe its for restoring your tail lights rather than deepening the red and if you look at the side markers on the back bumpers of some cars- especially 1G DSMs, youll notice that the screws that hold the light to the bumper have some red on the ends, which is because they used similar stuff from the factory to add the red to the housing which was otherwise clear to begin with. While it wont make the lights match the color of the car, you can easily make the tail lights look factory new by wet sanding with 1200- 1500 grit sandpaper and clear coating over them and theyll look lke a million bucks when youre done:sneaky:

I used it on a previous car to tint the tails all the same shade of red before I stuck a couple shades of black to make it a really really dark cherry red, never once got pulled over for them.

If you want your tails to color match the car your gonna have to use some kind of automotive paint with clear mixed it.
