Anyone ever used a used crankshaft?

Hey boys/girls, Im in the middle of a budget build and I have a question or two for yall.. First, I want to say Im shooting for 400-450whp. I already have eagle rods and wiseco pistons 8.3:1 CR. Now comes a crank, I had an extra block that had a balance shaft belt break. I thought to myself hey why not re-use that crankshaft if its in good shape. Well I started tearing the block down checked the the thrust play and it had .002 of play, all the bearings look good to me as well as the thrust bearings but Im including pics of them just for some thoughts from you guys to make sure Ill be alright. The crankshaft journals look and feel fantastic to me, however I do plan to take it to get micd by a machine shop just to be sure.

So my question for you guys is has anyone ever re-used a crankshaft for a higher horsepower build, and if so what did you look for? Thanks in advance!

if it checks out, have it polished.. clean it well and go for it...

My crank is used, and it works fine. I'm sure there's lots of 20 year old crankshafts on the road/track.

Like Bogus said, if it's within specs and doesn't need cut, just get it polished and it's like new again. Lot's of people use reused cranks.

I have a 6 bolt build and expecting 500whp out of it and it has a used crank.

The '63 and '64 cranks are bullet proof. As long as it can be polished you're good to go. At 400-450 hp your transmission should be more of a concern.
