Anyone use this gasket set?

Looks like the cheap eBay kit. I’ve used it, didn’t have any issues with any of the gaskets in the kit and don’t leak. The head gasket is a pain to clean off the surfaces I wouldn’t use it again. OEM to be sure on it will be good is my advise.

I used one of those cheap gasket sets a long time ago. They suck luckily the motor wasn't in the car long maybe a few hundred miles before I had another issue and removed it. I found the oil pump gasket was basically disintegrating had it of ran any longer it would of started leaking or contaminated my oil. Use oem gaskets or felpro. The oem gaskets are cheap insurance

I use small gaskets out of kits like that, the head gaskets I use for torque plate honing, the thermostat housing gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil filter housing gaskets, I use.

Do I have to install a ring when I install a new gasket?

The fire ring would only be helpful if the turbine housing still had the step for it to seat. As many people upgrade or port out the housings, you don't see them all that often.

It’s slightly ported so I think I’ll be able to use one.

You'll never be able to use a fire ring on that. Yes that's an FP logo.

My advice take a black marker and color it then take a nice long file and see if it's flat. If it is great no issues it was just a junk gasket or improperly torqued down. If it's not go to file town till it's reasonably flat. I've done this in the past it takes forever but does the job.
