Anyone have a tune for FIC 650s..

Hello people, first of all Id like to introduce myself. I'm 28 I'm an actually trained as a diesel mechanic, but I specialize in fire trucks. I recently purchased a '96 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. This is my first time owning a DSM and a turbo car in general. It's my daily driver and it runs,"ok". Problem is the previous owner literally tuned this car into a torque monster.

I want to compare between the tune that I bought my car with vs one that runs more efficiently. The previous owner did a pretty crappy job tuning and and I'm new to the tuning scene. My talon absolutely drinks gas right now and won't start and idle unless I feather the throttle. Thanks in advance for any help. I look forward to y'all's advice and some of the inevitable flames.

I'd like to point out that I understand the mods as well as elevation and the driver makes every tune unique. With that said my mods are:

Turbo XS manual boost controller set at 20psi (too high IMO)
FIC 650 injectors
Full 3" turboback exhaust, no cat
Greddy type s BOV
Hard upper IC piping
Walbro 190lph Fuel pump
'98/'99 Eclipse flashable EPROM ECU
Narrowband O2 sensor and gauge (unfortunately)
Eculink to flash and Evoscan to log

Thanks clipto. I PMed him, just waiting for a response. If anyone has a 650 tune I can look at in the meantime I'd appreciate. The fuel map my Talon is running on does not look right at all.

EDIT: Dude has the injectors scaled at 478 in ecuflash... Please help, LOL.

On a different note does anyone think 20psi is too much for a daily driver?

It it's the stock T25, yeah. Your just pushing hot air LOL. I'd lower it to at least 14 for the little hair dryer to last longer.
 
Yea it's the stock T25. I've read it was decent until about 18 psi. And I don't really go into boost much because of how crappy the my gas mileage is.

The stock ecu throws like 9:0 a/f ratio even leaning it out a little like 10:0 will yield more power you wanna lean out out as much you can to make most power just need watch logs. But I wouldn't waste time with trying to boost the t-25 more then stock boost levels its more or less wasting gas then going fast. You in the right zone to upgrade to a 14b or 16g turbo upgrade tho.
 
I don't have any experience with evo tune since I ran ECM link but the basic premicise is the same. You want to watch your fuel ratios with a wideband 02 a perfect stochometric ratio is 14:7 on premium gas. So that is your goal.

I would personally go through "jafro's" YouTube account he has a series of videos called base tuning,tuning 101, and 102. The only one really pertaining to you is the basic tuning. From the issues you said you were haveing it sounds like a IAC and bissscrew issue.

Should my injector scaling be as low as 478 in the rom the ecu is running if I have FIC 650s installed. That doesn't look right to me at all.

This is why I want to look at someone's tune to compare injectors. Fuel and timing maps. With the knowledge I have so far his tune looks bad. Especially the fuel map.

How much does he charge for a tune? Also what's his website address? Sorry it's a little inconvenient to try to look it up since my only Internet right now is my phone.
 
Here is his website. Home - MY1GDSM Tuning Services For the most part every car is a little different so you really need to make a tune that is more adequate for your car not what someone else has as it won't be as up beat as your "own" tune would.

A couple corrections, not to be a dick, but just to clear up terminology so nobody gets confused. Your ECU is not an EPROM. The EPROM ECU was found on some first generation cars as well as some 95 model year cars. Your ECU is the "Flashable ECU". Also, ECUFlash is the program you use to "flash" the modified ROM to the ECU. So, 98-99 ECU is flashable and uses ECUFlash with the "Ceddymods". 95 and older ECU's might be EPROM and use ECMLink (also called DSMLink).

Those 2 threads should help you get a base tune. But you will need a wideband O2 sensor. There's also a guide to tuning EVOs which is very similar. It's a 170+ page PDF called the "Merlin's ECUFlash tuning guide".

On page 70 it lists a method to get your injectors dialed in for cruising using your fuel trims and lots & lots of time spent datalogging. To get your Wide Open Throttle AFR's dialed in you still need a wideband though.
