Hey all.

I have a simple question.. Will a 190 Walbro rewired pump push enough fuel for FIC 650s...

I had no problem with this setup running my EVO III 16g but IDC on 650's with a 16g is pretty low.

I just snagged a PTE 50 trim and will be installing this weekend.. I'm just curious how the 190 will hold up at a higher IDC.

Obviously a 255 and AFPR will definitely be enough flow for the 650's, but that is not really the question i'm asking...

I have DSM Link for fuel control and logging and a wideband and all the other supporting mods to hold 20 or so psi... so i will be able to tell pretty quickly if things arent going to work out... I'm just throwing the question out there now, because somebody else may have already tried out this combination and had great success, or failures.

Input is appreciated.
Thanks alot!

yes, it will work. many people are using that exact same setup. Check the 1/4 times and look at peoples profiles, that will tell you all you need to know.

Low to moderate boost should be fine. Anything above 22-23psi and you might start to run close on the 50 trim. You already said it though... 255 and a AFPR and the question is moot.
Aloha

You don't have to worry about the fuel pump being able to handle the IDC, you have to worry about the pump handling higher boost. The higher the boost, the higher the fuel pressure and the harder the pump has to work. This leads to a drop in supported airflow and can cause you to run out of fuel. Make sure your pump is rewired and keep an eye on airflow. Take a look at this when you have some free time.

I ran my 50-trim at 18-20psi w/ a 190lph and 650cc's. It was pushing the injectors pretty hard, and I'm pretty sure it was nearing the total output of the 190lph. I'd say it is a safe bet that they are a great combo.

What was your airflow that run? Is your FP rewired?

With that inforamtion, we can use the link above and see how close you were, mathematically, to maxing out the pump and injectors.

It may be worthy to note that a lot of data from the Link forums have shown that fuel pumps, even when rewired, are dropping down to ~12.5V or lower after a certain RPM.

Thus, at 20 psi and 43 psi base pressure, you'll get roughly 2167cc/min of fuel from the pump (from quadratic regression of data, assuming an un-hardwired 190). You'd be able to support 541cc/min of fuel per injector, which is roughly 83% IDC max. On pump gas, that translates to ~3.62 lbs/min of fuel, which will support 39 lbs/min of airflow at 11:1 AFR.

Pump flow number are also published based on zero restrictions in the fuel system, so with stock lines, filter and fittings, you'll likely have even less flow potential. I highly recommend picking up a wideband O2 (hell they are only $199 nowadays) to monitor your AFRs. If you see them rise up as airflow/boost increases (and your injectors are not maxed out), you may be running out of pump :dsm:

Agreed. From that thread. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=151050356&postcount=10

We did some back of the envelope number a while back and concluded that perhaps a 190 wasn't quite up to the task on a 2G but you should run your own numbers and understand were the fudge/safety factors are.

Usually the E316G is paired with the 190 and the 50 trim is paired with the 255/afpr. If you ever want to run in the higher boost range i suggest the 255 setup. You already have DSMlink, and a wideband so why not try and push more out of the turbo? Whats your clutch/tranny situation like? If you have a strong clutch/tranny I would say go with the 255/afpr. Just my 2 cents

They only have a narrowband O2. Wideband is a part on their wish list. Although I do agree that with them so cheap now a days, it would be a great tunning tool to have in your car.

Was a bit confused about what you were talking about for a second, then I got it. So he can go to a higher boost of course :thumb:
