2G Anyone ever change their AC clutch/pulley/bearing?

My 1999 Spyder GST has begun chattering some of the time, but only when the AC is turned on. I’ll try to get under there and turn the pulleys a bit. In case it’s a clutch or bearing, I was wondering if anyone here had replaced the clutch and bearing on their AC? Thanks!

Its usually easier to get a good compressor, it could be your crank pully starting to seperate!

Possible I’ll look into both of your suggestions. Was hoping not to have to evacuate the whole system.

If it makes the noise only when turning on the ac, then the compressor is going out,

If it makes the noise when the compressor is off . The bearing is the culprit, but in your case it’s the compressor.

When the compressor is off, the pulley itself spins by the engine, but the compressor doesn’t move (internally), so the pulley is spinning on the bearing, so if no noise is detected while the bearing is in motion then the bearing is good.

When the compressor is on, then the clutch engages and drags the motor (internally) and starts to move (spin) the motor, so if the motor is damage it will makes the noise, so you will hear it only while moving (ON).
