1G Aftermarket Flywheel/ACT PP - Can I clean/reuse- would u?

These came with my car that I recently picked up.The vehicle was flooded back in 2016 and hasn't been touched since. when I took transmission off, these things came with it. Could I use a brass wheel and clean the surface off the flywheel & reuse? How about the pressure plate, do you think I could get away or what can you guys, with experience, see could possibly go wrong? I would replace the disc tho. ::Can anyone recognize this flywheel?

Only thing I'd try reusing is the flywheel but from what I've read, it has to be stepped when resurfacing. I'd trash the pp and disc. You don't want any parts coming loose and/or come apart.

Yea that clutch disc is toast for sure. Trash it. The pressure plate is debatable, but for how cheap you can get a new one I'd just trash it too. New clutch and pressure plate for sure.

it looks like one of those Fidanza Aluminum Flywheels. I was just on their site & they sell a friction plate kit for around 100. I'll just go and do that instead. Thanks again

i was hoping to use reuse the pressure plate but your absolutely right. I don't think its worth the risk/future work. thanks bro

Brake lathe isn’t recommended for flywheels if just using a simple steel bit.
What is recommended is a Blanchard grinder.
I’ve done both, but I’ve yet to have a car over 350whp.

I believe it’s not as big a deal with 4/6 puck style discs.
I was unaware of this early on messing with cars. Just passing on information that was passed on to me.

I’ve reused secondhand pressure plates and discs, but that’s poor practice and not recommended.
If I were in your shoes I would just buy a new clutch kit and reuse flywheel with a new surface.

I would toss that flywheel in the trash even if it was brand new. Only thing in there I would consider using is the pressure plate but it needs to be cleaned up

Some Evaporust would take all of that rust off of those parts and show you better what you are working with, without removing any base metal and is non toxic.

you can see each section has 2 cracks along but they don't slide thru the metal. Its more like some surace scratch/crack. I personally want to try to see if it'll still hold up, which I'm pretty sure it will but I would have to replace that disc & I don't want to buy the kit. I may just throw this up for sale.

I would throw that flywheel away, if that thing ever comes apart at high rpm it can kill you or bystanders or at the least it will destroy anything in its path including your block, transmission, turbo, firewall, radiator, hood, etc...I have seen it.

Get a new flywheel, media blast the pressure plate friction surface and replace the disk.

I had to edit my response because it looks like I can't even use this awd flywheel in my fwd. I'll still hold onto it & perhaps another awd will enter my life soon.. I appreciate all yalls input
