Stock build i assume? What i would likely do is evo 9 crank, rods and pistons. Rated to a good 500hp its safe and of an oem spec build. Get the good evo 9 rods with the arp's. Pistons are better. But depends on your goal also

No sir. Initially the plan was to use my 96 non split thrust block for the stroker build but I figured a later block might be the better choice and added insurance. I already have a Callies 100mm crank and Manley stroker rods so I'll just have to figure out the pistons and headgasket. I have ARP 625+ head studs and ARP mains standing by. I'm leaning towards the SCE Vulcan but I'll have to do more research.

Make sure to hone bore the mains again once the ARP's are done up as its required to be properly round.

Head gasket will be fine and its getting popular. I installed one also because of the good results people have had.

You got many piston options. Maybe some diamonds?

That's the plan. Trying to machine as little as possible but torque plate and line hone for sure. What's a good RA for the Vulcan? Hopefully I can get away without touching the deck.

I had both mine done as the block needed to come out anyway. Your factory block will be super fine for an MLS so will be good as is for any gasket.

For the first time since being assembled at the Normal, IL. plant, the engine bay is once again empty and I'm beginning to disassemble the 33k stock engine which has never been apart with the exception of the valve cover. It has been 21-22 years since the last time it ran and the valvetrain looks as good as new. I can't wait to dive further into it to see how the bottom end looks.

I can't leave things well enough alone. I never liked how the bolts sit in the engine stand arms when bolting up to the engine so to make sure they are centered I bought some bushings which worked out perfectly. Yeah, I'm doing too much. 😄
