99 gst motor in 96 tsi in need of help?

ok guys as you know my motor took a down fall so i did find one a 99 gst with 85k with big 16g and supporting fuel mods. for a good price guy is even going to throw wirng harness and a tuned socketed ecu for me. but my problem is need adivce as this is my frist motor swap and i still have to pull mine out so what is the easiest way i heard pulling the motor and trans at the same time is a easy way. but i kinda just want to get the motor pulled as he is throwing a stage 2 clutch with it so i am going to switch them to. but any help with pulling the motor out it is down to the block and i think i just need to take the last 2 motor mounts out and unbolt the tranny bolts but i dont know. also what would i need to do to get the 99 motor in there good without any to much problems thanks guys

We have the same problem. I need to put my motor, tranny, axles, and some othe minor parts. And I have no idea what i'm doin. All I say is good LUCK

hahah well it wont be once you figure it out man. i am just taking it one step at a time. so that is what we can do it. hahah

Ok it really in my opion easier to pull both motor and trans together ..Some say it's easier to pull jus the motor it self!!You stated urs is jus a block if thats the case un bolt the trans from the block and pull it out ..Make sure you remove the harmonic balancer as it will be in you way when you go to pull it up and out..Well it was when i pulled my 7 bolt out anyway...When i set the motor back in i couldn't get the angle right so i ended up pulling the trans from the car and setting then in together..hope that helps ...

I removed my motor with all accessories attached, trans on, and even transfer case still attached! I'd say leave the trans on. Much easier to pull it all out from the top then from the bottom in my opinion.

But if you don't know what you're doing I have two pieces of advice
1) READ
2) BE CAREFUL!
