I have a 99 GST Spyder Eclipse and I recently toke of the manifold to change the gaskets. I then put it back together but now my turbo won't spool. Running on pure engine power turbo seems to try to spool but doesn't go pass first tick mark on OEM turbo gauge. I was wonder if you guys could help me please. I also would like to install a after market boost gauge too see the actual PSI, I am running on but don't know where to put the "T" from. Also what are the torque specs for a manifold in ft/lbs and in inch please. Pictures would help.

I wasn't able to get a torque wrench and also i don't know how to use one or set it to the appropriate lbs. How does the p on throttle body work?

I'm sorry I don't know how to do basic tasks, but i won't give up. The picture I have is that set to 40ft/lbs? Also I have a broken stud (left red circle), don't mind that. Before i toke it off there was nothing there and turbo would spool. But the stud on the side (red red circle) how many ft/lbs do those have to be torque at?

well that broken stud needs to be fixed. Happend on my friends and I ended up getting the stud out but then broke a tap off in the hole... after about 4 hours of dremeling and chiseling i got the tap out and just drilled the hole clean and used a nut on the other side.

So the new gasket you used, was it the aluminum foil looking composite crush type, or the oem solid metal or multi layer steel type? Cause those composite ones are garbage and with that bolt missing IT WILL LEAK and burn out the gasket in no time.

I recommend the 6 mls manifold to turbo gasktet from extreme psi

this = garbage

What did you drill that stud out with? I think my is welded on there. I tried many things but nothing budge it. Ordered that 6 layer gasket see if it helps me. (current picture of stud), Also does the O2 sensor have a torque spec? I pulled that off to idk if that can cause a leak. btw I have no check engine on.

I have extracted half a dozen of the broken turbo bolts/studs by hand, and by far the easiest method is to use a bridgeport. Whether it is finding a machine shop locally or knowing someone it has always been the eastiest way. I even broke a hardened bit while in the middle of extracting it by hand, and within 10 minutes I had a clear hole via bridgeport.

I've tried all kinds of bolt extractors and drill bits but none seem to budge. and I don't know any with a Bridgeport, how much would a shop charge to take it out?

If you can get access to a welder you can weld a nut onto it and get it out that way

Dont forget to soak with pb blaster! Heat is good too, which it would be right after a weld.

I just took a intake manifold to have a broken bolt removed, I broke an ez out in it.... and it was $50.... A bit on the high side if you ask me, they welded a nut on it.

I know you dont want to undo the rest of the turbo, but its really not that bad and it will fix your problem the right way.

Take a wire wheel to the exhuast and turbo mating surfaces and get it nice and clean too.

If all else fails, warped manifold.

Im sorry to say but im with a lot of the other member this task is seeming to be a bit over your head. It may be time to get it to a dealer that has experience on our cars and get it taken care of. The stud needs to be removed and then a new gasket and everything torqued down and put together correctly. And if you don't know how to work a torque wrench then I don't even know why you are taking the turbo off in the first place.

I didn't take off the turbo just toke off the manifold because the gasket between turbo and manifold was making a metal to metal sound. and that's when i found a bolt lose that pulled out with my hand(wasn't screwed) and the other one didn't have it. So that when i found the broken bolt. On other note i'll take it to a shop that can take it out or screw something threw it cause there is not much to get a nut welded on there. Is there a torque sequences if so could i get some help with that? Also side bolts are 40 ft/lbs torqued too?
