Another update for y'all. Went to the house Saturday and started making a mount for the accusump. Also plumbed up to the firewall. Used a -10 bulkhead fitting in what was the drain hole for the evaporator. Mount came out well. Next time I'm there, I'll mount it fully into the car. My only question at the moment about that is if I should weld it or bolt it to the floor in case I ever have to remove it. I'll figure it out before I get there. Just ordered a couple more fittings to finish plumbing the accusump in. Hopefully this weekend, I can finish it all up. IMG_20190629_115745.jpg IMG_20190629_123146.jpg IMG_20190629_133418.jpg

Are you just using the accusump for pre start oiling?

That and to counteract any low oil pressure issues we might get at the track. I'm not pulling enough G's to warrant a full dry sump setup. Especially now that GTA is moving to a spec 200TW tire for the limited class next year. So it's a little insurance for the engine since we're planning on making a couple of their events.

Unless you have some type of solenoid valve on it, it won't hold pressure. Its supposed to have a valve so high pressure oil can come in and then only exit when the pressure switch for the solenoid goes below its value (supplying power and opening the solenoid). With the way you have it if the valve is open it will flow oil into the accusump when pressure is high but as soon as it drops all the oil comes right back out and its over full. What you need is the Canton EPC Pro electric valve kit. I got mine from pegasusautoracing.com. I attached a pic with my order and part number. It opens the solenoid when your oil pressure drops below 20-25 psi. They tell you how to wire it up and everything. If it is on there somewhere and I missed it then just ignore me haha.

Wow. That's really interesting. I was under the impression that the fillrate was controlled by the pre-charge you put in the accusump. Like, if I was only seeing momentary losses of oil pressure, wouldn't the gain of pressure fill the sump back up? I'd understand if there was a huge loss in pressure, IE the oil filter coming off. I'd still be closing the manual valve prior to shutting the engine off. But I'll definitely look more into what you're saying. I was not aware of that at all. Really appreciate the info! Thank you!

Definitely don't have 230 bucks for that electric valve LOL. My budget has me pretty tapped out for this race next month.

The accusump is a piston with air on one side and the oil in the other. When the oil pressure builds it pushes oil to areas with less than pump pressure(the accusump). As the high pressure oil pushes the piston over it compresses the air side. This raises the air pressure(less volume, same amount of air) and fills the oil side up. This is where the valve comes in. If the solenoid 'check' valve isn't there the oil would flow back in when the pump pressure dropped even 1 psi. The problem is the accusump holds 2-3 qts of oil. When your oil pressure goes up and it wants to equalize the system(engine and accusump) you will be sucking oil from the engine in your current configuration because the ball valve will be open. I would suggest leaving the valve off and waiting until you can get the solenoid valve.

Ok. So I'll just use it to prelube the motor for now until I can get the pressure valve. Really appreciate the insight.

So I just got off the phone with tech support at Pegasus Racing. The guy there was super helpful and really nice. Told me I'll be just fine with the manual valve in the car. That with the manual valve, the accusump acts like a shock absorber. He had one with a manual valve in his car for years and never had an issue. Eventually I'll go to the electronic valve, but on their word, I'll run it with the manual valve for now. Really appreciate the info and recommendation. I would not have looked into it deeper if you hadn't mentioned it. I feel much more at ease that Pegasus said it's ok.

I had some free to me at work today, so I made a little bracket to hold my tablet in place in the car. I put it in the cluster so I don't forget to turn it on LOL. I'll post pics IMG_20190705_100553.jpg IMG_20190705_101552.jpg IMG_20190705_102237.jpg IMG_20190705_100658.jpg

I’ve been thinking about something like that but for a monitor to run a screen mirroring of my laptop. I definitely like your setup inside the cluster looks great

So you not have a cover over the positive side of the battery? I would add something as its open to any thing causing a spart or arc if anything got dropped on it

I love the sound of that thing! Do you know about how much the car weighs in it’s current setup?

Yeah I have a terminal cover. It's just while the car sits, I always have the charger on it cause these batteries go bad if you look at them wrong LOL. But yes. I do have a cover.

Thank you! Awesome! I'm glad you're enjoying the story!!

On the scales with me in it, it's just over 2800lbs. Gonna start working on weight reduction in the future. Namely the rear hatch and glass and other areas that can stand to be removed.

So it's a Pipo tablet. I got mine off I think it was like Ali Baba or something like that. Jason Drew put me on to it. It's gonna be nice to be able to log sessions and tune the car at the track.

I’ve always loved drag racing but I can’t afford to try and run 10’s and be able to drive it whenever I want to ride around. If I do something mild along the line of what you and a few others on here do I think I’d have more fun. I’ going to look into the tablet, im going to be learning to tune at a slow pace with EcuFlash along with Evoscan to datalog so I’m still in the planning phase. I’ll definitely be taking notes from your build!

Unfortunately, on most levels, to try and be competitive is going to be expensive. HPDE/track days are affordable to an extent, but the pay off is the amount of seat time you get at those types of events. Most races I do are at least 4 or 5 sessions and anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. On a double header weekend, that's a lot of seat time.

Agreed, anything racing related will be a big investment. The amount of time and money invested by yourself and many others here is results of hard work and dedication. Hopefully I can find a median of autocross, drag and street. 2800 lbs with you in the car is impressive. These cars are extremely heavy when compared to some other imports. Can’t wait to see more videos of your events

A lot of weight can come out of the driver's seat if you know what I mean LOL. I'd like to get the car down to a little over 2600lbs wet. You can find a good balance and make really great all around car. The problem is, it's starts getting really addictive and you really want to see the times improving LOL. Then you start comprising one aspect to improve another.
