Sadly got my smic back on today. Did it so I can have my fog lights again and since it's winter now and snow is always gonna happen, don't want someone hitting me or my car loose traction and there goes the fmic. But the fmic will be going on the GSX anyway. That way I can get another fmic for the spyder that allows me to keep the fogs unlike my VRSF FMIC.

Was driving home Thursday afternoon and lost all clutch pressure. The pedal went to the floor and luckily had enough speed to coast to the side of the highway. Found no fluid in the master reservoir, but it was spilling from the slave and the subframe beneath it. So I took this picture to show the leak.



I thought nothing much of it and got a friend to tow me home, got my car parked, and left it to cool done. I later looked at this picture again and found the reason to this failure as well as what is the probable cause to the unexplainable fluid drop I had a few weeks ago along with weird pedal feel. The top bolt somehow backed out of the slave cylinder and the resulting pressing of the clutch pedal bent the lower bolt pushing the piston inside the slave out further than allowed and had no pressure from the clutch fork to push it back in. And in the end, there was too much space between the slave and fork that nothing would happen. I got a new slave cylinder just in case I needed one and while taking off the old one, the piston and spring came right out like it's not supposed to. Good thing I got the new one first. Got it on and bled and all is back to normal.







Washed off the engine after all this so if there's still a leak, I'll know tomorrow.

Since my last update about my spyder over boosting, I found out its not. My clutch has been slipping once I hit just over 3k rpms. Gotta deal with it for now since I don't want to drain and fill this transmission just to do it all again when I put this engine into the GSX. It's not too bad as long as I go easy on the boost.

I decided to do this tonight. Haven't decided what to use the extra switch for, or which Eclipse to put it on, but will work something out.

Decided to swap out my clutch disc yesterday. It took so long I wished I hadn't thought about it, but I got it done and that does confirm there was no boost creep. Clutch grabs so nice now.

So since my last update, the very next day after getting the clutch disc swapped, something failed after my fiance drove the paperweight and I later moved it and had no pressure in the clutch pedal and there was a puddle under the car. I did get it in 1st and reverse though so I got it moved around where I needed it. Later found that the leak was from the driver side axle not being pushed all the way into the transmission. Safe to say that was my fault. However, I didn't have clutch pressure. Spent all week not driving it and bled the clutch so many times with the same results; weak pedal unless I pumped it 3 or so times then it'd go soft again. Later found that there was nothing wrong with the pedal, master or slave cylinders, or the clutch line. Something inside the transmission wasn't returning the fork back to the engaged position. I still don't know what caused this, but yesterday I decided to attempt driving because I really needed my car this week and it drove and shifted fine other than the clutch engaging at the very bottom of pedal movement and still had weak response. So I drove to work this morning and maybe 10 minutes later, the pedal went back to the rightful pedal pressure and haven't had an issue since. I don't think it's over, but will be careful driving it until my awd flywheel comes in tomorrow so I can swap the engine to the gsx, hopefully this weekend.

I found my old GST in the salvage yard last week and took back the black airbag cover to put on the spyder to get rid of the gray one.

Finally got around to installing the black airbag cover I pulled from my old eclipse in the junk yard.



Also temporarily fixed the signal wire for my temp gauge for the cluster. I broke the connector off by accident when I changed the clutch disc.

It started snowing like crazy tonight, so I decided to take the spyder out to mess around in the snow. Well, it didn't turn out so well. The snow was thicker than I thought it'd be and I need new front tires, so couldn't get enough speed to really do anything

Man you had worse luck then I did through out your build with your car.....love your dedication haha. Glad to see I'm not the only one who forgot they had tools still on the rotating assembly when trying to start the car......mine was a breaker bar on the crank sprocket.

I have AWD and it gets on my nerves with how bad it under steer's all the time. My last trip out in the snow ended up having snow packed in everything .....couldn't see any of the drive tran not even the CV's.

Yeah... under steer like crazy. I scooped all the snow out of my wheels, but surprisingly didn't have anything caked in the drive train. Will probably try again tomorrow morning

I did the same thing as your Jan 7 post with an extra hazard switch I picked up. If you're still wondering what to do with it, I use mine to turn on my gauges. With Prosport, if only the power wire receives power and not either signal wire, the gauges only light up a faint red color. Then I use the switch to activate the white signal wire to light them up white, then at night I have the orange wire connected to the headlight relay to turn them amber.

Of course, I could just connect the white signal wire to the same source as the red and not use the switch, but I have remote start and that white light lights up like a Christmas tree on the 4th of July at night.

Got new front tires today as I needed them, so like any tard, I went out in the snow to have fun again. Sadly my phone was nearly dead so the video was done on my friend's phone and its having issues uploading more than this little clip that shows nothing...



Also thought this was funny. This idiot was driving through the parking lot too fast and didn't know how to ease on the brakes...

Went out playing in the snow/ice again tonight and went well, until I blew my front driver side tire, which I just bought last week I was getting a little close to a curb and although I wasn't moving fast, my car slide into the curb and ruptured the tire. There's now a gash in it. I guess this idiot didn't know how to ease on the brakes either... That's all the damage though, luckily. I knew damage could happen while doing all this, so I'm not really upset. Glad I didn't wreck my car. Just disappointed I gotta buy yet another new tire

Which Prosport gauge series do you have?

Sorry for the reply delay. I thought I would get a notification or something next time someone posted.

I use the Prosport Performance Series White/Amber. They work well, relatively inexpensive, and match nicely with the stock gauge colors.

That would be great for me, but I got rid of the orange glow after buying it and made all gauges and button lights red.

I would probably consider the EVO series they have then. Defi is the other manufacturer I like. Take a look at their Racer series.

The Evo series is what I started getting. Just wish they had ones that were red and white, instead of just red and blue.

I ended up dropping off my wheel and tire I had in storage off at my old job to have a friend mount and balance the new tire. Since he wasn't sure when he would get to it due to his work load, I went by the salvage yard to source out a full size spare replacement because I hate the compact spares that these cars came with. And I ended up with a 2GB wheel and good tire from a '98 Talon for only $40.

I've been having clutch engagement issues again and this time, it was grinding 1st & 2nd gears. So I decided today, to tear out the slave cylinder and extend the clutch line to make sure that all the air finally came out. So I did all that, bled the line fully and still got the spongy feel and weak pedal return. I decided just to look up at the pedal this time since I was planning on adjusting it after bleeding the line. And it turns out that the master cylinder is leaking right there at the firewall. So I found the problem finally, and have bought the new cylinder. Now just have to wait until this weekend to replace the bad one.
