Im buying a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd. It had a factory t25 turbo in it. Now it has a small 16g turbo. Which one is better. and what should i run this 16g on. How much psi. Im not racing it but i want it fast. I dont want to ruin anything tho.

Also is there something i can do to control how much psi i run.

Thanks.

Im getting a talon tsi awd. Its turbo with the small 16g. the guy said it dont spool til 5000 rpm. he said the t25 did about 2500 shouldnt the 16g do it about 3000 rpm. I dont know but can you help me out. and if it is suppose to be lower how can i do that. and also he said something about a 255 fuel pump. Is that right. So if i get a mbc all i need is bigger injectors now. Correct?

hey i wouldnt know how to make the turbo kick in faster but i have a 96 tsi and mine starts at 3000

5k RPMS is way too high for a small 16g. i drove a GSX with a big 16g and it spools around 3. if it the guy is right and it spools at 5k, it either is blown or has a big boost leak, so i would check for that. as far as what your next steps are, the 255 fuel pump is good, much better than stock, and they are a pain to do so its good its been done. i would put 550 or 650cc injectors in it, get a SAFC2 or AEM wideband to tune the bigger injectors. If the stock exhaust is still on it i would get rid of that and get a full 3" system. I would also get a front mount intercooler kit with hard piping, because the stock intercooler pipes can leak

no need for 2 of the same posts, i would delete one of them before the moderators do anyway. But as i said in your other post, 5k is way too high for a small 16g. it is either blown(or almost getting there) or has a boost leak

The turbo is more than likely shot, a boost leak is also possible. The turbo is spooling but the boost leak is so massive that the gauge doesn't register any pressure. If he has driven the car like this for a while then more than likely he also over spun the turbo which causes it to blow... I wouldn't buy it to be honest, keep your options open and look around a bit more.

A stock DSM is better than a lightly modded DSM riddled with problems.

^^ Everything he just said. You can't just put injectors in and turn up the boost, you'll hit fuel cut. If you don't know how to tune it, have someone teach you. I would get an AEM UEGO to tune it with as well, this will show you the A/F ratio in numbers which is your best bet. Keep it between 10.5-11.5 to avoid damage, anything above 11.5 is a gamble and since you seem to be rather new to both modding and tuning I wouldn't really risk it.

There is installation guides on here, same with tuning guides. I would look them up and make sure that you follow the directions. If you are having trouble finding them send me a message and I will gladly link them to you.

Alright well im getting a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd. It has a small 16g. first of all the turbo dont kick in til 4200 rpm. Is that bad and how can i fix it. And my next question is why is the engine ticking. Its a really loud tick on top of engine. If you go behind car you can still hear it. Does anybody know what it is and how to fix it. Thanks alot

1. Did you do a boost leak test after installing the turbo parts?
2. It's most likely lifter tick. I don't know how prone the 420a is to get it though and I would say that cleaning the lifters and rockers would help. Not sure if there is a "revised" lifter for them or not.

Is it a ebay or a MHI...check for cracks on the hotside of the turbo, make sure u have no exhaust leaks, and boost leaks.

You should also probably do just a routine boost leak test ### if you haven't done one in a long time then chances are there's a leak somewhere else in the system. The screws don't stay tight forever, too bad they don't LOL That's just my thoughts. It could help you find the leak in the turbo I'd assume if that's where it's leaking at.
