Im buying a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd. It had a factory t25 turbo in it. Now it has a small 16g turbo. Which one is better. and what should i run this 16g on. How much psi. Im not racing it but i want it fast. I dont want to ruin anything tho.

Also is there something i can do to control how much psi i run.

Thanks.

Im getting a 1995 talon tsi awd. It has a small 16g turbo. Is there anything i should do to it. And also does anyone know how a boost controllor works or have any links to a nice one that aint to expensive

boost controllers work off of vacuum lines, and as for cheap ones, you can google shop manual boost controllers, and you can find some for under $50.

As for things you should do, always do maintenance first, so oil change, tranny fluid change,Rear diff fluid, etc etc. also do all the belts, some new spark plugs, some spark plug wires, check for boost leaks, check for ANY kind of leak actually...

Next, set up goals for yourself or you are going to spend a lot of money on ish you dont need.
EX: if you are going to road race, you dont need a T88,you need some nice susp. first.
if you are going to build a DD, think about comfort VS performance. A 6-puck will not be enjoyable on the city streets, etc.

hope i helped.

After you do your oil change and fluid/leak check, go ahead and flush the radiator and change out the tranny/rear dif fluid. After that, change the timing belt (if you don't have paperwork showing it was replaced recently). Check the other 3 belts and make sure they don't need to be changed. Then after all of that... Have fun!

I agree with the maintenance first. If you look around for a boost controller, you can find one for cheap. I haven't seen any that go bad. All you may need is some extra vacuum line. I personally have a hallman and i love it. holds boost and looks nice

Right now I am running a small 16g with stock injectors and fuel pump. I've run upto 17psi before fuel cut. But I turned it back down for daily driving. And do look into upgrades, I'm going with evo injectors and fuel pump.

Just letting you know before someone else does but you should try searching for your questions before posting. I learned the hard way the first time i asked a stupid question now i love the search i can usually find what im looking for in seconds. But good luck with your build.

Im getting a talon turbo tsi awd. I will be getting a mbc. Whats the most i should run on this car. Its pretty much stock. it only has 3 inch exhaust. thats it. and the t25 turbo is switched with a small 16g. Whats the most i should run on this car. maybe 15 psi idk. i wanna hear what you think. thanks for the help. the engine is all stock except for what i told you.

15 is the max you can run safely most of the time, but if you don't have any way to log, I wouldn't even worry about what to set the boost at yet. When you can log and tune and have a better fuel system then turn up the boost. Until then, perform a boost leak test, fix all leaks, and eliminate the boost control solenoid if you want the most boost possible.

how much money do you think i would be looking for installing injectors and pump and getting it tuned like you said. and also if i did that how much boost do you think i could crank it up to

if you do the work yourself injectors can be anywhere from 175-300 or so depending on if they are used or new and size, fuel pump is 90 dollars or less and a rewire would need to be done to give constant voltage to the fuel pump, the rewire kit is like 15 dollars. SAFC is 200 or so and dsmlink is 500 for the full version or 345 for the light version, tune is dependent on a shop but you could do it yourself with some help from people on this site!

mine hits full boost (20 right now) at around 4k it was higher though i had a couple boost leaks and my waste gate was shot, i had to get a whole new hot side of the turbo...

Slow spool can be caused by a number of things: turbo size , pre-turbo exhaust leak, boost leaks, malfunctioning wastegate, worn out motor, etc. A 16g shouldn't be spooling that late unless you have some leaks or something is wrong mechanically.

When checking out a used car I would recommend the following:

1. Take the intake off and check the turbo for visible fin damage and shaft play--
In/Out: You want there to be none. In/Out play = dead/soon to be dead turbo
Side to side: Minor play is okay as long as the fins don't touch the walls

2. Boost leak test
3. Compression test
4. Look for any visible manifold cracks or broken bolts

good luck:thumb:
