Im buying a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd. It had a factory t25 turbo in it. Now it has a small 16g turbo. Which one is better. and what should i run this 16g on. How much psi. Im not racing it but i want it fast. I dont want to ruin anything tho.

Also is there something i can do to control how much psi i run.

Thanks.

I wish u had a video. I could tell you better. Put a heavier grade of oil in it and some lucas oil stabalizer and see if it quiets down. If not it could be something major

1. Did you do a boost leak test after installing the turbo parts?
2. It's most likely lifter tick. I don't know how prone the 420a is to get it though and I would say that cleaning the lifters and rockers would help. Not sure if there is a "revised" lifter for them or not.

His profile says n/t but he mentioned he's getting an AWD so he'll have the 4g63. +1 for checking for exhaust leaks pre turbo. Cracked exhaust manifold or bad gaskets. Also it has lifter tick, I've read certain oils are better to help, and seeing as how you don't know what the owner put in I would definitely go over all maintenance and do an oil change with a nice 10w30.

That is a real high rpm for a 16 to spool up. Mines an auto and i spool by like 3200rpms. Check for pre-turbo leaks and do a boost leak test.

Lifter tick is what u probably have...like we all do:sneaky:

stupid lifter tick...and yes, boost leak tester!!! I would say you have a bad throttle body and gaskets, i'm more of a 1g guy so idk much about your car but that is where my big issues were. heck, my small 16g hits 15psi between 3000 and 3500 at about half throttle and i still have a tiny leak from my blow off valve because the spring can't hold the pressure anymore

You already know what to check for the turbo.
And if its a higher pitch ticking, it could be easy as Cleaning the rockers and lifters, or something worse, like valves, and valve seals. Hopefully its just ticking lifters, and then at the absolute worst, you will need them replaced. Should cost a total of 280 then. But hopefully, they just need to be cleaned.
Chew him down on the price then. Tell him what I just told you.

alright first of all there about different stuff so if your not going to help then just dont post to them. or you no what would be better. Dont read my threads. hmm that might be good huh. Dont you have something better to do then complain about stuff

a 1995 tsi awd. has small 16g. dont kick in til 4200 rpm what do you think the most i will be spendin on getting it fixed. also what do you think it is. and also the engine is ticking really loud on top.

well its so loud i can hear it from behind car. its really really loud. and im going to take it to tpr cincy. its a performance shop. there going to find out why the boost dont kick in till 4200 rpm. they only charge 69 to find problem

Like stated before you should boost leak test it yourself. The shop can probably fix it for you but it'd be a waste of money. You can make a boost leak tester for about $10 and it'll help you for the rest of the car's life guaranteed :thumb: . And please do not start yelling and flaming people online. First it's immature and secondly EclipseTical was right. All your threads are basically about the same thing. We are happy to help on here if you ask and just wait for a reply. Try to keep it all in one thread since they are all about the same basic thing is all we ask. IT makes it easier to stay on top of it. There's a lot of wisdom and knowledge here I've learned that. It'll be in your best interest to just listen and learn and take what these guys say seriously :hellyeah: . By the way, I'm not trying to bash you or anything. I'm just saying... ;)

First of all, please use they're, you're, know, a capital letter or two, as well as proper grammar and punctuation if you want to be taken seriously. Don't they still teach you any of this well before high school?

Your thread titles may be different but you're asking the same questions in each thread:

Alright well im getting a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd. It has a small 16g. first of all the turbo dont kick in til 4200 rpm. Is that bad and how can i fix it. And my next question is why is the engine ticking. Its a really loud tick on top of engine. If you go behind car you can still hear it. Does anybody know what it is and how to fix it. Thanks alot

I dont know but can you help me out. and if it is suppose to be lower how can i do that. and also he said something about a 255 fuel pump. Is that right. So if i get a mbc all i need is bigger injectors now. Correct?

And then there is the first post in this thread we're in now, which surprisingly looks a lot like the four ones above:
My small 16g dont kick in til 4200 rpm or higher. people said leaks. how do i fix that. the turbo is newer

Really different stuff there huh?

Not only are you taking up space with questions that have already been beaten to death on here; by spreading them across multiple threads you are doing yourself a disservice since you'll then have to read all the threads to get answers rather than having all the answers in one single thread. Or you could do some research on your own instead of thinking you are owed the world.

As far as not helping you out-- Why don't you take a look at post # 4 in your first "Talon TSI!!!" thread instead of sitting here whining about your perceived slight. The level of arrogance that you display for someone with such little knowledge of these cars that you clearly have is astounding.

And it took all of 2 minutes to respond to this so it really didn't take too much of my "something better to do than complain" time :thumb:

Well said ^ :) that made my day:thumb:

Merged your threads. Try to keep your threads that are on the same topic to a minimum. Ask the question once, not 5 times in a different thread each time.

The turbo is more than likely shot, a boost leak is also possible. The turbo is spooling but the boost leak is so massive that the gauge doesn't register any pressure. If he has driven the car like this for a while then more than likely he also over spun the turbo which causes it to blow... I wouldn't buy it to be honest, keep your options open and look around a bit more.

A stock DSM is better than a lightly modded DSM riddled with problems.

I totally agree with this. I definitely would find something else or talk him way the heck down if the rest of the car is in good condition. I mean I wouldn't pay what he's asking especially if you have to turn around and replace a blown turbo

How many times does someone have to say "BOOST LEAK TEST." Just google (it's a search website) "how to make boost leak tester" and go to Home Depot (it's a hardware store) and spend $10 to build one.

To check your exhaust manifold for cracks, pull the heat shield (it's on the front side of your engine... has a picture of a hand with an X through it) off and look at your manifold. If it looks cracked, squirt a little soapy water on it while the engine is running and see if it bubbles.

If you're not going to work on your own car, you're going to spend a lot of money in the long run. Spend $25 on a Chilton/Haynes manual and learn to do the work yourself.

And Finally........ SPELL CHECK!!!!!!! It makes people seem stupid when their posts are filled with misspelled words, poor grammar, lack of punctuation... etc, etc......

+1 I totally agree with everything said here. This is a DSM enthusiast's site. Try to have some enthusiasm, and pride. Instead of being super lazy. If you need help. We are more then willing to help, but we aren't going to do it for you. You don't need to spam all over to the place, and if you aren't going to learn about these cars or work on them. Then maybe you should be asking your mechanic how much he will rob you for, and not us. Also, we take the time to answer you. Please take the extra few seconds to use proper grammar, and punctuation.

I am not trying to flame you, or start a fight. I am just trying point out you. You will be taken more respectfully if you do these things, and people will more then happily help you. As I have been more then willing to help in your other thread.

Thanks! :thumb:

I might get a 1991 eclipse gsx. Has 14b turbo. If i bought a big 16g turbo and took it to a mechanic and said put this in how much would i be looking to spend. and also if i just put the 16g in could i run the car stock or would i have to change stuff and what about the computer.

please use the search button. All of your questions have been answered many times
