Forget the car show, take it to the track!!! Car looks awsome, glad to see someone who had enough money/skiil/time to build a custom tube chassie car picked a 4g63 to power it!

Those car show pictures are sweet. The car is beautiful for sure!:thumb: I like the kid in the second one down with is hand on his head as if he's in disbelief. I think that would be my reaction as well.LOL

On a side note, I think that is the single most badass intake manifold I've ever seen on one of these motors.

I think it's a "Palm to face" moment because he just bought a Civic...

The car looks really good. I'm with the others on wanting to see some track footage and times.

Well 1st dyno tune done. We kept it conservative as we kind of work up into the higher boost/power band. Best dyno pull was 700hp at the wheels with lots of tire slippage. This was at approx 8000rpm with around 30 pounds of boost. Below is a link to a video taken by an IPhone, some future videos forthcoming.

Nice! Gonna be out at the track this weekend? :hellyeah: Should make some silly power in the 40+ range. :D

Just to update, we took the car out Friday to test and tune at the track. We can not get the engine to get up on the convertor so we are going to have to juice it at the starting line. Made 3 runs at low boost (19-23 lbs) with the best speed of just shy of 142. Boost did not really come on until around 200 ft. Ran straight as an arrow, nice stable platform. We did throw an alt belt on the return road which took out our timing belt, so will have to pull the head an check the valves. Will keep everyone updated and will try and post a video later this week.

Curious how much leaner of an AFR your targeting on Meth with the Air to water on there? Great build!

We are not running meth at this time. We decided to start out with C-23. We will try to change to meth in a couple of years as we get the bugs worked out. As for the rods, we took the convertor in consideration on the initial planning. We have GRP rods that they made special for this project. When we do the tear down this winter to analyse everything and see how we are. Head is about done with the new valves and we should be plumbing the nitrous this week. We will retune and give it a try again. So hopefully new videos in a couple of weeks.

I would be careful not bending the rods under converter stall and 150shot launch...

What? I can't even begin to count the number of cars using nitrous to spool on the converter, and I've never heard of anyone bending a rod doing it. It's been working great for me for years.

Don't be afraid to try it Rick. A 75-100 shot is usually more than enough, and will wake the car right up. No special rods required. Mine shuts off right before the 2 step. If you leave on the nitrous make sure you're set up for it, the converter will multiply that torque and things can get interesting. ;)

Theres a reason why sport compact 4cyl 6sec/7sec race cars arent using automatic transmission and using Liberty and GForce clutchless 5speed. It might work depending on the setup and combination in a 8sec/9sec car, but definitely a 6sec/7sec car will encounter headaches and problems using a automatic. Atleast one of my best friend who happened to be a funny car mechanic and a performance shop owner advice me NOT to run automatic transmission if I didnt want to bend the rods. It aint the same launch stalling the converter on a 4cyl compared to a 6cyl/8cyl. His custom rods and auto trans might work for him, still by coincidence what my friend told me I have heard the same scenario happened to a few RWD 4G63 running auto trans and after they went 5speed they stop breaking the engine. Jerry Racing 4G63 Corolla had all sort of nightmares with his auto trans and when they changed to a 5speed he inmediately stopped having headaches. If it works for Rick539 running the auto trans without having headaches in the long run, KUDOS, 4G63 POWER #1...

You have a point on switching to a manual, but for right now in the testing phase of this car let him learn on the auto. If it were me I'd stop at a 100 shot, my car flashes pretty damn fast.

Mine comes up real fast too. It takes 0.75 seconds on average with a 100 shot. The video below shows it pretty good.

Maybe automatics aren't good for 6/7 second cars, I don't have one so I can't say, but shitloads of 6/7 second V8s run automatics and don't have a problem. There's no doubt that getting the converter right is the hardest part, and if it's not right it sucks and is worse than a 5 speed, but once it's sorted out it tends to just work with no issues. I've got my converter right on the money, and it's not coming out of the car until some of these auto trans horror stories I've been hearing since I bought the car actually start to come true. :)

Jeff makes a good point too, learn the car on the auto, then switch it later if necessary.

If you have the converter right on the money and it works for you, 2 THUMBS UP !!!! Obviously every racer has its own build tendencies and what might work for me might not work for others and vice versa. I aint going to name this particular builder, but a few RWD 4G63s guys who had the same auto trans problems in the past where build and set by the same guy. Maybe he doesnt have the auto trans dilema correctly figured out, or maybe the trans wont hold past a certain point. I'm a 3 pedal racer till death... I first have to finish my own current RWD 4G63 2G project, engine tuned and track tuned and proved, but hopefully I'll be ready in time to race next years Shootout. Hope to see you there... 4G63 #1 !!!!!!!

Any updates on this car? It's been a pretty good while.

Other than that, I've never seen this car at all (probably because of the lack of post or vids about it?). But I have to say it's looking pretty dang nice. Would love to see some good track times and more vids on it. Would love to do something like this in a street trim though.

I can only imagine how many thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars it took to build this car. The knowledge and skills that went into this build is so above my personal abilities although I wish I was this knowledgable. Anyway, good luck with this car and sure hope to see more on it. Hope it doesn't take another 3 years to start seeing good stuff about this car showing up.

Mind if I ask what the estimated price tag of this build is??? Just wondering so I know how much I'll need when I win the lotto. Lol.
