93 Mirage/ Evo clone drag build

Hey guys I figured I'd start this now and try to do a better job with updates on the build. The car was Mitsu rage's and was sold to me as a roller. I went 9 hours to pick it up. Nice guy and I'm excited for this project. I'm going to pull as much over from my talon as I can. Setup as of now will be 2.0 liter 9:1 compression wiseco piston manley h beam motor I have been using for the past 5 years or so with a 2g automatic and sinister 9" converter. The turbo setup is up in the air. I may reuse my 6765 or go bigger.
Anyway here are some pics of when I picked it up and the little big that has been touched so far. I'm still trying to decide what color to paint the thing

Oh shoot, was this Ryan Pelletier's Mirage? Nice, i was wondering where it went. This is a solid chassis, good luck with the build man and im glad to see that this is getting another lease on life.

Yea that's Ryan's old car. He met me in pa. Hoping to get car painted soon been in debate on what color I want to do right now. Worked on it last night and realized the suspension is a bit different. Will be modifying the car to fit my bc racing coilovers.

Don't know if you can tell from the pics or not, but the rear subframe is different and holds diff differently also. Will be modifying the 4bolt to fit also.

Just modified front suspension to fit my 1g bc racing coilovers. The sustec pro coilovers were a two bolt top so we had to drill an extra hole to fit the 1g.

Got Evo 8 steering wheel mounted. Needs to be finished up but you get idea

Got the rear suspension done. The setup is a bit different than a first gen, but we made it work. It slides down into the lower control arms and just needed a bushing made. Working on 5 lug conversion also.

Pulled the diff out and tools pics to compare two diff's.

I also traded my manifold off for some parts. Including a garret turbo here is a pic beside my 6765

Yeah Ryan is on the New England DSM forum and was a little sadden that he was bailing out of the car because the car is straight up bad ass. But after seeing that you pick it up then other than some random person, I know it's in good hands with you. I know you will do great things with that car but the only thing is that don't tell ryan your going automatic because he will have a head attack,.

got rear swapped to 5 lug with extended studs. Should have the rest done soon!

Pretty much finished up 5lug swap with arp extended studs. Just waiting on one more 1g dsm front hub and it will be complete. Going get it as roller and move it to my buddy's garage/ our shop garage where all the fab work happens. Going to be getting cut on some and have a few custom mounts made as well as make a 1g 4bolt rear fit in an evo 1 rear subframe.

My buddy had a set of new dba rotors for a 2g Gsx that just happened to fit. Got them on last night

Got some more progress on the car today.. Took my buschur parachute mount for a 1g and got it bolted up. I think it'll look pretty good once we cut the bumper.

Cut part of of radiator support out tonight. Got motor and auto trans in roughly for mock up. Will be cutting the front end off right in front of the strut towers and installing a chromoly tube.

Finally got car to other garage. We just got a mill/lathe/drill press in. So we made some aluminum mounts and worked in getting rear diff and motor in.

Got some more work done. Front end cut off plates being welded up. Also made room for the intercooler. Got turbo placement idea. Still working on getting more finished up and chromoly front done

Got some more progress on the car. Got the tube front welded on. Was going to do a bent/rounded front, but after figuring how we wanted to nought coolers etc.. Ended up doing a squared look. Not visually as pleasing, but hopefully will work out great. More pics to come

Holds more capacity and has cooling fins was made by Brian Erb to help with my running hot problems last season

What are you doing for oil drain on the turbo? i REALLLY want to place my turbocharger there as well. but i am not in a position to buy a scavenger pump.

The drain is still up high enough I shouldn't have any trouble with it.
