Ok so yesterday afternoon I was driving my 92 talon tsi awd automatic around and my abs light started to blink at me then I heard a clicking coming from the dash by the radio and when I went to engage the brakes they would kind of allow a little pressure but pulse down to the floor. Then the car would die and my battery would be completely drained and would need jumped. Well after jumping it a couple of times my battery is now to the point to where its completely drained and wont even crank the car over even with jumper cables on it and someone revving the car jumping mine to around 2-3k rpm. Any ideas? All help is appreciated. :hmm:

Nothing guys?? Come on need to get the talon back on the road asap!!!

Your alternator is bad. That's my guess. Look in the engine bay fuse box. There is a 80A that is angled in the corner held in with 2 10mm bolts. And there is also another like 30 or 40A fusible link for the alt. sensor or something to that effect.

Happened to me on the way home from Cordova 3 hours from home.

ok ill take a look at those fuses and see what i can figure out. i doubt the alternator is bad because it has not had any starting issues or anything since i have owned the car. starts up every time.

Old car, crap happens. Although I should mention after re-installing my trans last week it wouldn't turn over, I smacked the starter with a wrench a few times and it's been turning over fine ever since LOL.

When you turn the key while trying to jump it do you hear anything at all?

Sounds like the starter isn't moving (from first post). So either no power, or bad starter. When you put the key in and go to the "ON" position, do your lights go on? Radio turn on? If so, sounds like the starter is either bad or not getting power.

If you have no power, try throwing in a different battery. Then drive straight to Advance Auto/AutoZone/Pep Boys or whatever and have your alternator tested. Might as well test the old battery while you are there. Most likely they can recharge it for free.

My alternator recently died as well for no apparent reason. I was driving on the highway with the windows open (no AC) on rather warm day and got to my destination to find out the windows won't go up and DSMLink cannot connect to the ECU because the volts dropped below 12. Car still started right up with no issue. Drove it almost 100 miles home with under 12 volts, hit about 9.8 volts or so by the time I got in the garage and then it finally wouldn't start anymore. Tested the alternator and it was super dead. Got a new one for free under warranty from Advanced Auto and got the battery recharged for free! :)

ya idk what the problem is with the car. can they test the alternator while its still on the car?? and when the key is on the on position i get no lights or anything

It'll be tough to test if you can't drive the car there. Removing the alternator can be a PITA, but that may be your only option unless you get a tow there and back.

Well figured out what the problem was. Bad battery! Who would have ever thought it would cause all of those problems LOLz. Thanks for the help guys! Much appreciated.
