91 Talon, cheap 11s?

great day yesterday, got a lot accomplished. Gseclipse93 did roughly 90% of the work, I tried to learn and hammered out engine/transmission mounts (what a pain) while drowning my frustration in ample amounts of beer.

Painted oil pan installed, custom oil return line built and installed. Which connects to the....turbo! Yay! First test fit is a succes, still no idea how the compressor cover will fit, but I gotta have faith.

Yeah I was just giving rexaroo a hard time. This car should have no problem hitting a 11 with the setup we are putting on it. Stay tuned!

What size oil return is that? Is it going to be enough for the holset? Not sure I would use that oil filter adapter. They have been known to come loose and leak bad. Almost took out keltalons car twice, it actually did the second time. If your looking to add a external cooler go with a 90 style ofh much better and no leaks. Looking good bro keep it up. Can't wait to see some passes.

It's a -12 oil return line. Should be plenty big.

Good to know on the oil cooler. I'll have to keep an eye on it. Didn't realize anyone had issues with that style.

Looks like the best times are in the 10s, with quite a few hovering around 11.2 in the 1/4. However, some are not running E85, or have maxed out their fuel setup on E85 instead of the turbo, aren't running high boost, or just need more practice running the 1/4 (I fully admit to being in the category).

It's a 60lb/min turbo that I fully plan on maxing out on E85 (eventually, after a built block). The turbo can certainly make the power, I think the biggest issue will be my driving.

I almost went with an FP Black since I know that can run 10s up here with a bolt on housing, but the lopsided design really turned me away. I'm not a big fan of a huge compressor and a small hotside, too many compromises. I'll see how close I can get to the fabled 10.99 run and go from there.

No. 1 guy went 10s using nitrous on an auto. Most guys are trapping 120, which will get an average driver and car in the 11s. Most need 128-130 to get in the 10s on slicks. The housing really chokes it up, being at altitude really makes the compressor work harder, which exacerbates the turbine issue more. Also your statement about it being a 60lb/min turbo really shows your greenness. It's only 60lb/min corrected to lab conditions, corrected numbers lead to disappointing track numbers.

According to one thread 2 guys went 10s;) not sure what transmission the other one had.

I'm very new to this platform, but not to turbos or modified cars in general. Still planning on 500whp maxed out on E85. Then it's just a question of dropping enough weight to hit what I want. I'm sure it'll be tough, but I at least want to try before admitting defeat.

Like I said, multi year process. Who knows, maybe I'll end up switching to a HX40. Should be very entertaining with the 35 on there for me for at least a couple years.

I spent the day replacing the old:

I decided to go with the 2 pot calipers in the front. Prolly not the best decision for weight, but I like stopping.

Really glad I decided to do brake lines. The old ones were cracked and leaking. Old brake fluid was completely shot too, nice brown color.

Next I need to finish the rears (I received the wrong rear brake rotors in the mail) then rebuild the brake master cylinder and refill.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this car runs! I want a low 12 second pass so I know I'm going to need a bigger turbo soon, but I'm not sure how big.

Here's a link to the Density Altitude at Banidmere Speedway, during the summer it's typically around 8500'
