so i know nothing about the lasers, but what i can find shows them as identical to the talons and eclipse. So heres my dumb question it has a burnt up eprom ecu, and i just wanted to know if i can use one out of a talon or eclipse as opposed to a laser since i cannot find one anywhere used. I know i asked for my second gen eclipse as far as eprom to non eprom but i wasnt sure if it would be the same answer for first gen. Overall what ecu's are compatible, eprom or non eprom?::confused: any help would be great thank guys and gals...

As long as the donor ecu has the same trim..As in m/t and awd, then yes it will swap right in..

But here is the answer you really looking for.. Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference

Also If you click on the repair link on that link..STEVE will and can repair the ecu you have..

There is a difference between Turbo/NT and MT/AT ECUs but no difference between Laser/Talon/Eclipse or FWD/AWD ECUs.

Also in regards to Bud's post, I don't think Steve works on ECUs anymore so checkout Tom and Dave at ECMTuning if you are interested in having your ECU repaired.

Yea, if its a 1990 any turbo 1990 turbo ecu is plug ad play. Also any 1991-1994 turbo ecu in any other 1991-1994 is plug and play. You can interchange them but involves some wiring changes and maybe ignition part swaps. As long as you stick with a manual ecu in a manual and auto in an auto. Also you can put a federal ecu into a cali car with no problem but cant put a cali ecu in a federal car without getting a CEL for the egr temp sensor.

Yea, unfortunalty Steve is no longer accepting new work, only works on warrentied ecus. But I'd recommend DSMtuners for any work. Tom is awesme, he is quick to answer any questions (I work graveyard and would send a question at 2am and get a response right back sometimes), great prices because they know their stuff and are quick. Even socketed my ecu for free (was an ePROM).

Forgot to ad that you can put a manual ecu into an auto but will have to swap out your injectors to 450's. And personal preference is to also put in a 14b, or bigger turbo, with a manual fuel pressure regulator or an AFPR.

Best shot to really find the age of your vehicle is the factory sticker, mounted low on the driver's door pillar.

In the upper right corner of this sticker, you'll see the month and year the vehicle was manufactured.

At the bottom will be your VIN number

In the lower left corner of this sticker gives more details when the vehicle was manufactured on that day of the month.

It's the MDH (Month, Day, Hour) example: mine is 061714 June 17th at 2:00 in the afternoon.

This tip will be an aid for the list that is in Steve's link above.
