90 laser pissin me off

alright i had this car a 1990 turbo laser for a few months. i got it with 95k and i just hit 101k broke the trans and was forced to drive it only in 2nd. at 2k rpms just died. no chuggin didnt act like it was out of gas. just like a switch.

i have no spark. i replaced the transistor and transmission

now its random spark. any one have ideas? i think its a ground issue or broken wire but i cant find a diagram on the grounds location.

ATL=ok
CAS=ok
fuel=ok
timin=ok
just random spark=not ok

but like i said it failed befor i changed the transmission.

been 2 weeks and i am going to have to sell it if i cant get it running:cry:
 
maybe the coil. i had a problem once where coil wire would come unpluged did u check it. could just be coil its self going bad.
 
Does it fire good when it's cold? Is it a certain cylinder that will randomly spark or is it just random cylinders sparking? Pull the ecu like stated and check for leaks.

coils i pulled out cleaned up made sure they were connected.

at first i was leanin on the coils well hope to god it was but no they are fine

this is were it gets weird.

caps have been replaced seen some spots that make me wonder.

car will randomly run great and no matter what when it runs its on all four.

so i am thinking ALT or the ecu could just shit on me.

but everything i read the ecu is not acting like a failure. but i was wondering where the two red wires on pins 102 and 103 hook up at.:banghead:

i just want the car to run normal LOL.
 
Just becuz the cap's look new doesn't mean that it's working right. alot of the time the corrosion from the leaking cap's is enough to burn up the traces on the board. mine never threw any cel's and i couldnt track it down. finally i sent it to steve on the freelancer boards here and he repaired it. the ecu works great now . if you have access to an ecu then you could use it for a few days to compare how it works. just a thought.
 
i wish i could get a hold of another. but man they are rare in this town. but there are a lot of 2g. i been to all the junk yards like 4 times in two weeks there are 5 yards here and all together there are only 7 1gs. and none are turbo so the ECUs are missin a driver and i dont have the programs for dsms on my laptop.

up date.

went out to the 2000lbs sled and was messin around with some wires on the cas. hit it and there is my problem i believe. cause i tap it car runs, tap it again it dies, replace that tomorrow hope for the best..




yeah the cas was bad. no just to find out why it still random goes lean. any one have any other ideas for that one? :thumb:
