I have about 50ft of aeroquip -8an stainless hose that I want to put to use, do you guys think that this is a bit overkill for a custom fuel setup?

current fuel mods:

walbro 255lph
aeromotive 1:1
RC 550cc injectors

The fuel pump is always running at it's maximum flow.

There is no problem with running -8 AN fuel lines.

At least you would not have to upgrade it later! I initially installed -6AN lines but then I switched over to dual pumps and E-85 and I had to replace all my lines with -8AN

It is definetly overkill. However it wont have any negative effects. The only problem i can see is the amount of money you are going to spend on fittings, hose ends, filter, and figuring out how you are going to get that walbro to hook up to 8an hose may be more trouble than its worth.

I get all my fittings for free, and I already have enough to do like 3 cars, I already have an -8AN inline fuel filter, and a simple -8an to barb connector will connect the hose to the fuel pump.

Can you pass some free -6an fittings my way. I need some 90 and 45s.

I checked out -8 an steel braided hoses on summit and it says that the max psi on the lines is 50 psi doesn't this seem very low? With the siphon in the 2g tanks doesn't the psi rise above this?

where are you getting free an fittings and
and 50ft of braided lineOMG
i saw in a priveioys post you can get us a good dealis this true?:sneaky:
how good of a deal ?
if you could please pmme some per foot pricing on -6an and -8an line.
also i am redoing my oil pickup tube since it leaks.
do you have fittings for that?(oil pan, and mitsu turbo ones)
and any -10an line?
thanks if you could pm me the info that would be great

Post a link to the specific product you were looking at. It should be around 1000 psi.

Here's 4 different brands from Summit (Summit brand, Russell, Aeroquip, and Earls). 3 of them are rated at 1,000psi and the last one is 1,500psi.
Summit SUM-230820 - Summit Stainless Steel Hose - summitracing.com
Russell Performance 632140 - Russell ProFlex Hose - summitracing.com
Aeroquip FCA0820 - Aeroquip AQP Stainless Steel Braided Hose - summitracing.com
Earl's Performance 320008ERL - Earl's Performance Auto-Flex Hose - summitracing.com

So I'm not sure where you're seeing only 50psi.

I'm running, -8an in, and 6 returning.

yes its over kill, but I'll never have to worry about the fuel system, no matter what motor or horsepower ever winds up in the car.

the main reason I ran those lines was due to the fact that Iwas already under there adding a return line system for the late fuel system.

im running -8an feed and -6an return also, what fuel pressure you guys running around...????

mods-
-fpgreen
-pte780s
-bc 272s and springs
-arp's
-crane ignition
-and shitty vpc for now haha

I'm running -8 feed, aeromotive 1:1 AFPR with the stock return and a 255 with solid pressure. With the AFPR on the return side of the rail your system to that point is solid, regulated by the regulator LOL.

I have to redo my fuel system cause I have the setup where the fpr is back by the tank so I'll probably just do the same thing with the -8an and the barb fitting. From reading around a either walbro in tank and a walbro or bosch inline is the way to go. I know that the 43.5 psi is correct for 2g turbo's I'm not sure if it's the same for the 420a(this is with vaccum off)

This was taken from the DSMLink user Guide, version 2.5 for turbo engines:
Model Trans Injector size Base Pressure
1G M/T 450 cc/min 37 psi
1G A/T 390 cc/min 43.5 psi
2G A/T 450 cc/min 43.5 psi
2G M/T 450 cc/min 43.5 psi

According to: SX FPR install :
"1G/2G NT FPRs are rated at 47.6psi at zero psi (meaning with the car idling, disconnect the vacuum hose to the FPR, and plug it with a golf tee, bolt, or your finger)". Hope that helps some.

I never blocked the vaccume line when I set base pressurer I thought the point was to have atomospheric pressure when setting that???
