7 year old timing belt with 10k miles-Change it?

I had my timing belt changed at 83,000 miles but that was in 2004. I have since driven the car just under 10,000 miles. Should I change it again anyway?

Yes, it will start drying out as soon as it comes out of the bag.

For the price why not get a Kevlar gates belt on eBay they're nicer if your top covers off and a lot stronger

Since it has been sitting up for a while, I would go ahead and change the timing belt and while im at it go ahead and change water pump and oil pump. Will save you in the long run

Not always willingly. My top one won't fit. I've gotta take my motor half apart to make it fit. (Hey, I am replacing the head soon. ) Stupid turbo blowing hot air on the belts....

Dry rot is no good on a timing belt! But i'm sure you were gonna change it.

Hate to see a very small rock bounce up from the road and fly into the belt train when you got that motor all wound up tight in a WOT situation, belt takes a massive snap and a $7k motor that was recently rebuilt gets suddenly destroyed.

Get a clear cover to protect that $7K interest before you hate yourself when it happens.
