alright my friend has a 4g63 n/t i am gunna get for cheap. and i have my 90 gst 6bolt but its blown. well is there any way to swap my 1g head over to the n/t block and convert it to a 4g63t? or will i be wasting my time i am very broke so i have limited money but i thought this would be a quick way to get my car running to get a job..so i can buy a real motor latter on..any one have any thoughts on this?

well i guess i will have to wait longer..car has been sitting for so long

From what I've heard, the n/t block is pretty much the same except for the difference in internals/compression. I would definately use a thicker head gasket to drop the compression a bit, because I'm not too sure how much power these n/t blocks can handle.

well its gunna be stock just probably a 16g no fmic or exhaust ect for awhile wont be running very high boost...just till i can afford a real motor.

Put it in and run it. I have run a n/t in my turbo for 5 years. currently its also got a head with .050" shaved off it, so its probably almost 10:1. I used to run 15psi on it with no problems. It would however get tons of knock when I shifted it like I had nlts, when I actually didn't. (meaning don't let off gas when shifting, jsut tappping the clutch, engine bounced off rev limiter) I'm not entirely sure it wasn't phantom knock tho. It never knocked on a third gear pull. The internals are just as strong. THE PISTONS ARE NOT WEAKER! Even though everyone will tell you they are, they are not.

I'm currently building another 10:1 with n/t internals as an e85 motor for my AWD conversion, I plan on running in the 12's with 450s and E85 on a China GT 16G. I really have no problems with running a N/T motor. Ive blown up more turbo motors than N/Ts

NT block is fine. Add turbo pistons and knock sensor, and all you'll be missing is the oil squirters, which many people plug on their turbo blocks anyways.

i thought i'd ask if some one could tell me what bottom end kit i should order since i'll be useing the n/a block and also what arp head studs 6bolt headstuds? kinda confused a bit.

It be useless. Even if you could the compression is totally different. Which would make some difference. I would hold out.

Fail.

Alright, you can use the n/t block no problem. I don't believe it has a place for a knock sensor so you need to tap a hole for that. Also, there are no oil squirters and the n/t pistons have a higher compression so you might want to have a logger to see how much knock your getting and adjust the boost accordingly. It will work, just a little more work involved to do it right.

so would i honestly be better of to just find a new 6bolt bottom end and rebuild it..seems like this is gunna take more time LOL

well since i already have a thread open i will ask this the motor in the car now i got the valve cover off and 3 rockers were off laying in the head on the exhaust side and theres oil in the intercooler how bad did this thing blow..i know the turbo is seized so. yeah?

You all fail.

Take the entire n/t 4g63 and put it in your car. Install the turbo and drive away.

You do not need turbo pistons, unless your planning on making crazy levels of power (400+) Everything else is the same. The block does have provisions for a knock sensor.

I would definatly run good gas 91+ oct.

I have had a turboed n/t longer than anyone in this post has been a member of tuners, I would say that I know what I am talking about.

Did it jump time or have a timing belt snap? It might have been over revved and just spit the rockers off. the oil in the intercooler is from the turbo.

honestly i have no idea i got the car for free and it was like this but it didnt have a timing belt on it so maybe it did snap who knows how bad yall think the internals are? i hope the block is okay if so i'll just build off that no problem. i havnt got the head off yet cause of the stupid headbolts i dont have a tool to get them off with

I suggest that you put the turbo head on to the N/T block because the turbo intake cam has better duration and lift. Bastarddsm runs the stock N/T 9.0:1 compression pistons but I strongly advise that you run the turbo pistons for the lower 7.8:1 which will make it easier to tune and you will have less knock, the rods and crank are exactly the same so all you need is pistons.

Yes the N/T block does have a knock sensor hole.

yeah i'm gunna just buy it. is the n/t same as 6bolt block? cause i need to know so i know what ARP headstuds to buy..6bolt ones?

The N/T block is exactly the same except, that on the turbo block there are oil squirters, which are not needed. Yes buy the 6 bolt studs.

i'm going to buy it and buy me a rebuild for a 1g 6bolt and rebuild the bottom end of it with turbo pistons and every thing else sound like a good idea?
