I am totally 4g63 ignorant , I own a 97 gs.

Is there any internal difference between the turbo and non turbo version of this motor. I can imagine the compression would be way different?

Unless you swapped engines, you would have a chrysler 420A engine in your eclipse. Its built off of the 4g63 but with a few adjustments, some make it a more reliable engine. OTOH, the 420A has around a 250HP limit before you'll break some internals (namely the rods), whereas a 4g63 will go up to over 450HP before it will start breaking stuff.

Yeah , I got that much .
I should have been more specific and I shouldnt have mentioned my GS.
I own a gs with a 420a therefore I know squat about 4g63's at present.

I have the oppurtunity to snatch up a 92 talon with the 4g63 n/t in it for cheap cheap. The timing belt broke and sent a couple valves through a couple pistons. Hence it being cheap cheap.

My question is , What (internally) is the difference between the 4g63 n/t and the 4g63 turbo.
I see all kinds of stuff on ebay about "6 bolt" and "7 bolt " or something , so my gut tells me that there are differences other than compression.

I want to know if the 4g63 n/t has as much potential as the turbo version so I know wether to frell with this car or not.

maybe you should try 4G93 engines that were used on pre 2000 JDM lancer (not evo). I have seen that engine hit 375 HP with almost stock internal over sea.

The only diffrence I beleve to be is compression. the hole 6 bold 7 bolt is 90-92 had one of em, and after that the onther one got the other config.

For the record the 420a is staying in the GS and being turboed , this is a different ordeal entirely. Forget about the GS , did I say I had a GS? I lied I have a festiva, now lets get back to the 4g63 trivia.

I do want to get a GST and build it just so I can compare them for myself.
My plan was to get this 4g block out of this 92 talon N/T , start building it and then finding a gst with like 6 million miles on it for cheap. But your saying that the 90-92 is totally different then the 4g63 in the GSt?

Then that pooches that deal. Its cool having a buddy that manages a finance company and repos cars all the time. He always sells them for next to nothing , but they arent ever exactly what I need.

The only difference between the block, as far as I can find, is that the non-turbo blocks do not have the oil squirters on the botton of the cylinders to keep the pistons cool. Other than that and the pistons there doesnt seem to be any difference. You could try searching the site for more info if you want.
