Ok. So I've done a couple searches and couldn't really find an answer to my problem. Someone please post a link to it if it is indeed out there. So I have this 1996 Eclipse GS. I am actually guessing on the GS part, as I don't know the difference between the GS and the RS. I think the RS is a manual transmission? I dunno... but anyway... here's my issue.
So I drove my car all over town no problems except for one wee bit of a transmission slip ONCE. Other than that, no real mechanical issues (just electrical ones
). My husband drove it to work (in Virginia, it's about an hour and fifteen minute drive) and the car just stops shifting while in drive. Before he even gets all the way to work. He was able to kind of limp along and get it in a parking space. Got it towed back home. The car will shift just find INTO drive and into reverse and all... but once you get going, it will kick the car out of gear (unless you are going in reverse, in which case it does nothing but act normally). We do have another transmission sitting in the garage which we knew to be in working order before it was removed from another car, so we swapped out both the sensors that screwed into the transmission. What else could cause this problem? Any input would be most helpful, thank you.
