Hello everybody, I know this has been talked about before but I haven't found a thread with my EXACT issue. I have a 97 420a N/A. It will randomly die at idle. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes its almost immediately, and sometimes its completely fine and doesn't die. I just put a new IAC in and it died twice both times after a minute or so. And now it seems to be doing just fine. I plan on swapping coil plugs and wires here next week too and I am wondering if there is something else I should be checking as well. Thank you!

EGR would be a good thing to check, a stuck open EGR can cause the car to stutter or die at idle. Vacuum lines would be another thing to check. Depending on your state laws and plans for the car you could always do an EGR delete, cheap and simple to do.

That could be many things, you'd need to do some diagnosing first. Is there a CEL or any stored codes? If you just start replacing parts it can get expensive quickly, and you're usually better off with OE parts in terms of sensors and such.

This is what I have done so far. Replaced IAC, msd coil with new plugs and wires. I took it to autozone and it didn't show any codes. I have thought about buying the egr block off plates (I don't have smog or anything where I live) I haven't really checked for vacuum leaks yet

And no, there are no codes or CEL
