Friend of mine wants to buy my GST complete engine and wants to know if it is possible to do this swap from the 420A. Is this possible? I wouldnt think so without it costing a fortune. I am not an expert with these cars. I only worry about my Evo, I just happened to fall into this GST engine

I am going to save you from everyone else saying something worse...but NO & YES sorry...It is possible, but with A LOT of body and frame work..It will be cheap to buy another GST OR GSX and go from there!

Ya thats what I told her. Thanks for the props on the Evo. Doesn't run though :( need to sell it unfortunatly

Evo motor is on the same side as a 420A, it would take a bit of fabrication, but the N/T DSM can accept the Evo drivetrain and motor.

Yes, two of the motor mounts have to be pushed forward slightly.

However a Evo motor is going to go for a lot more than a DSM 4g63t, in most cases.

I still doubt this would be worth the work.

just tear down the 420a build it and boost it. use megasquirt to control ecu. or, the cheaper and easier way, buy an old gst or gst or tsi and call it a day

An evo motor is a 4g63t :D:p

OMG! really? I thought it was a 4B11T....

I never knew that up to Evo3's the engines had the Timing belts on the driver's side, and that "EVO" he has in his avatar has the Timing belt on the passenger side kinda like a 420a making it an easy swap, just pricey.

Hmmm maybe that's where the E3 16g comes from...

AN LS1 is just a 350.

Chill out guy..

I didn't see anywhere indicating you (or anyone else) were talking about an evo x

Maybe be more specific when you post something :thumb:

Anyways...OP either boost the 420a or get a gst/x

I've found all three of my DSM's for under 1200 bucks in decent condition with a little love. You just gotta shop around, there's always those people who buy a car and get in over their heads and get told repairs will be three grand or something by a shop, so they sell em cheap.

All EVO's had 4g63T's up until the EVO X. After the 3rd EVO, they rotated the engine 180 degrees for better weight distribution.

And an LS1 is a 346...:p

If the car is of sentimental value then it can be worth the swap. I personally wouldn't do it but there is a local shop where I live that quoted my buddy 1650 for an engine and tranny swap but he had to buy the supporting mods.

This car does have some personal value to her. It was her brothers car and he passed away so she wants to keep it. She just wants it boosted and a bit quicker. Just looking for some answers on how to do this under a tight budget. BTW my Evo is an IX as most of you probably already know

Turbo the 420a there use to be an actual kit that a company sold. Still going to cost atleast a 1000 to 1500 for something that works, looks good, and is reliable.

might just have to do some charity work to get her parts list going....hows a stocker IX turbo fit on a 420A?
