Hey everyone, I’ve searched around and doesn’t seem like anyone’s had this issue before so hoping somebody might be able to help! I have a 420A motor that I bought off marketplace and was told it was in “good working order”. I dropped it in my car and while it does run and drive it smokes and burns oil like crazy. I decided to pull it and just go through it to ensure a nice running engine. As I pulled the head off I noticed that the pistons appeared different from the ones in my other motor (I bought this eclipse with a seized motor and after tearing that one down I determined it needed a bit of machining to bring back to life. I decided to pick up a spare motor to run in the meantime while I save up and do a full build on the original motor). So I dropped the oil pan and flipped the block over and imagine my surprise when I found eagle rods. I popped the piston and rod out of the block and it appears I have some forged or billet pistons married to the eagle rods. My issue is I can’t seem to find any markings on any of the pistons to know for sure what they are. Has anyone ever ran into this or know of any companies that don’t put markings on their pistons? To my knowledge it was really only Wiseco or JE pistons available for the 420A but everything I see online indicates that they would have markings. Here are some pictures of them. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated!
