I havent found anything that really helps to what I have going on.
I bought my friends 95 Eclipse GS. (420a 5speed) I have one myself, and I bought his because I knew it ran. He had just rebuilt the engine, after it had sat for 2 1/2 years. Now, the only he didnt do, and I didnt think about it was drain all the old gas out. It sat on a full tank that long. Anyways, it did fire up and ran rough though, Compression and timing, spark the whole nine was perfect. Now, my question is, after it ran on that 2 1/2 year old gas for 11 miles. Would that be a no start problem? I got it and cannot get it to fire. I could not siphon it out, and had to manually crank it over with the fuel line off the fuel filter till we got all of the 14 gallons out, or most of it, ### we waited till it got to below E. So yes we know the pump works, afterwards I replaced the filter, and dumped in 2 1/2 gallons of fresh gas, bottle of Heet, and Octane booster. Still wont start. It tries, I can smell the gas, (still smells iffy..) and exhaust is pushing through strong, but it just sputters to fire and wont. The weird thing is, it sounds like it's forcing air out of the air intake (stock intake) like u can hear it popping out air... dunno if that's a bad thing? I think it's coming from the intake anyways... almost 100% there.
Now for the bad part... I know it CAN start on such low compression but would driving on that super old guys ruin a fresh build? 1-4 left to right is 100-110-100-25.... I've been told washed rings and told to just add more fresh gas, blow the fuel filter instead of replacing it, and dump in another bottle of heet and octane booster. I've also tried the "oil" trick thinking compression was the main problem, poured an ounce of oil in each cylinder and got better turn overs, and better compression readings now, 120-125-120-80. Would running that old gas basically be dumping water since it was seperated so horribly? In a nutshell, am I going to have to tear the head off and re-ring and rehone and clean this thing? Or is there a chance I can get this thing to run some what?
Yes the sensors are all good, Yes the fuel pump works, Yes to New wires, plugs (gapped properly), and yes to spark on all 4 cylinders... I held the tester wrong and trust me, there's spark >.<..
