3G new spark plugs and wires runing rich need help

ii have a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse 3.0 v6 five speed i put new plugs wires and val cover gaskets on it it i put evey thing back togather it started back up but its runing rich in air fuel has a little miss and back fire and just runs like crap iv been working on cars now for a few years even went to sool for it but iv not massed with any mitsubishis befor i would love any help seeing how this is my only car and i need it to get to work and back

Plug wires in the correct order and completely on the plugs?
An ohm test on the new plug wires is pretty easy, just want to see if any "new" stuff happens to be bad.
Same exact sparkplugs as it had/calls for and gapped correctly?
@Widgmaster , do you have any tips for this gentleman? (he is a 3g guy like you)
My son had a 3g V6 stick car and that thing was surprisingly quick!

If it's backfiring i am thinking suspect a plug wire is placed in the wrong position. Check your spark plug wire routing. Did you replace them one at a time, or remove them all then replace them all?

I have an 05 3.0l 5spd myself along with my 97 GST. If it flutters under load and idle and has a rich condition the spark wires are crossed somewhere. I just hope its not the 3 wires under the upper intake manifold. Speaking of manifold did you replace the gasket when you removed it to do the back plugs and wires, a leak can also cause all of that. Another thing could be the MAF on the air intake didn't get plugged back in since you probably removed the air intake to give yourself room to work on the manifold.

You pretty much covered this Marty ...@jkspear ...you do not mention replacing the seals that are under the valve cover .. I am not talking about the valve cover gaskets but the rubber o rings ... They need to be there so you don`t suck air through the spark plug tubes...

I can`t @pauleyman.. I know these are oil seals . The was no mention of replacing these seals . I stand corrected.. That`s why they call you a DSMWiseman for a reason.. My Bad
