Searched via tapatalk and yielded no answers. What is the difficulty of removing the valve cover on a 420a? I have another one I'm gonna paint, but I don't want to do something and get over my head. Cliffsnotes for removal?

It's pretty easy. Just unbolt and pull it off. It may stick a bit, but a bit of very light brying near the corners should get it to come off. Installing was king of a pain in the ass to get the VC gasket to sit correctly. Use some RTV where the cams meet the VC.

I had trouble removing once but that was because the prevoius owner put headgasket glue or something like that so gently using a small flathead go around the edge breaking the seal but dont go to hard and score the surface. That is the most trouble you will ever face taking out the valve cover. Also a tip on painting the valve cover. Let the can sit in a container of hot water running from the faucet. By doing this you get the molecule in the paint reacting quicker and when you spray the paint comes out lovely and so smooth and sticks like glue.

I've never had a problem with a 420A valve cover sticking, did about 4 or 5 so far. After I unbolt it I lift it straight off by holding onto the two breather vents. Also use a quality gasket, the ones on ebay are not any good and you will get bad leaks. I have had good luck with the one Felpro makes.
