I just put a 2g MAF in my '93 Talon TSI, and it runs like crap! I used the tech section on this site about wiring the 2g plug to the 1g plug. I ran the engine at idle,(crap) drove around the block (crap), than I unpluged the 2g MAF and it ran the same, like crap. Is my 2g MAF bad ? Do I need a piggy back system or what did i F-UP ?

The reason why it runs like CRAP is because the 2g has a higher air flow than the 1g, therefore leaning out your a/f ratios. People say install 550's and it will run alright, but not fully correct. The only other way would be to add bigger injectors and get the SAFC and logger and tune that way.

Why dose the car run the same with the 2g MAF unpluged or pluged?

thanks

No, should I ?

Heck yes you should.

When you change your airflow, you should always be thinking about how you're going to match it with fuel effectively. And the best practice is to know the answer and have the particular fuel/control hardware on hand before you start.

You should have researched before swapping to a 2g maf. Its not a drop in part, you at least need 550's and this would still cause you to run a little rich, which is 10 times better than a little lean. I would put the 1gmaf back untill you get an AFC and some 550's

Because the ECU is running off of stored values in the fuel maps. You need some sort of fuel management, a piggyback fuel controller would be a good place to start. Like others have said, 550's would work to get you by, but even then its still running a bit rich. Look in the classifieds, or on eBay. There are a few Apexi SAFC in the classifieds for around $150, and the same on eBay. Plus if you are planning on modding in the future, like bigger turbos and such, you are going to need one anyway. But if i were you, I'd look into your ecu and see if it is eprom, because if it is, i'd be saving for dsmlink as that would be my next mod, completly stock or not.

So going back to a 1g MAF is the best way ? Than find a piggy back to run my 2g MAF later.
Will any AFC work on my car ???

Sorry for being such a dumb a$$

Car: 1993 TSI, IC pipe with SMIC, turbo header, 16g turbo, 2.5" turbo back, ported intake, ported head IN/EX with 3 angle valves.
