2G Kona Talon Revival

This is a car that a friend of ours owned for years, but it sat. He ended up trading it off to a friend of his and we bought it from him while searching for an AWD shell for the wife.

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Skipping a couple steps… but to sum it up, we had a GST we pulled the engine from and that is now in the Talon (original had low oil pressure). Haven’t done much with the car since getting it running, it’s been lacking quality of life.

Known issues include:
Radiator support rusted
Cut power steering line
Brakes
Suspension

Today we solved #1, the radiator support.

Car was missing about 2ft of exhaust, so I got to welding. Added 2ft of 304 to the downpipe and a new flange.

Power steering rack had a cut in a line, so got a replacement rack from PerformancePartout, and got some new boots/rods.

As a random tidbit, Mastercraft K6928 is a nice boot for the rack. Hair shorter than OEM, but seems decent for a local pickup.

Nice car! I have always liked Kona Blue, and the 2Gb front bumper really adds to the look. Also I have had the thermal on my last Takin and have it on my current Talon. It’s the best sounding exhaust system in my opinion. Keep up the good work!

Thanks man! It’s unfortunate it’s so crusty, but it’s an AWD drivetrain and that’s hard to turn down at the cost we got it at.
