Hello everyone so I finally got the gst running after about $3500 in parts and labor... well know the headgasket blew again wtf... the head and block where decked and smoothed used oem mls gasket... My question is how hard if posible is it to replace the hg with the motor staying in the car... I would hate to take the motor out again... Thanks everyone

Easy. I blew my HG and wrote up a shopping list of parts I needed, once I had everything I needed I popped the hood and got to it. A good friend and I did it in less than 3.5 hours, its the timing belt stuff that takes the longest I think. We left the IM and the turbo still attached to the head when we pulled it, its a lot easier to remove that stuff when its off the car.

I suggest getting a Mitsu composite HG this time and copper spraying it rather than getting the MLS.

Heres what I mean by pulling the head with everything attached still.

It's not very hard if you know your way around these cars. Pull the head, Replace headgasket, Install head, Set timing-belt, Drive.

I'm in Hazleton PA, 18201 if you needed someone to do it for ALOT less then you were previously charged... You can bring it to my shop any time. I've been working on dsm's for 10years and currently build them out of my large garage for a living.

I wish you where a little closer to the harrisburg area... so pretty much left wheel off. put jack on oil pan to hold motor, loosen engine mount undo timing belt and then head and reverse steps... I was just told you couldnt do the timing with the motor still in the car from some local dsm guys....

I suggest leaving the intake manifold on when you pull the head. That driver side bottom bolt is a bi*** to get at. Should only take you and a buddy 6-7 hours to pull it, swap the gasket, get it back together and running.
