2G 97 gst problems help

I am the new born of newbies to turbo motors and the 4g63.. I have a 97 gst that has no check engine light.. And starts fine and runs until I drive it and push in the clutch and the rpms drop super low and the car sometimes dies, other times catches itself. But almost every time this happens a couple lights will come on for a brief second because it drops so low then when the rpms come back up they go off, I have no idea what the problem is, I need anyone's help

Check the throw out bearing. If it's going bad, that will about kill the car. Another thing to check is crank end play. If it has enough it can mess with the crank sensor signal, which will make the car shut off. If it looks like the plate is bent or has been hitting the sensor, you're going to need to fix that as well.

Is that what is called the dreaded crankwalk ??

Yes but yours being a later model would tend to be less susceptible to it. Usually that problem affects earlier 7 bolts more. There is a certain spec for it, if it's beyond the spec than at a minimum you will need new bearings, possibly a new crank, worst case a rebuild.

But really it's too early to say without that information. I'd look into it.
