97 gst tuning HELP

heres my mods, fmic, 16g, ic piping, headers, tuboback, intake, boost controller, gauge.

i have about 400$ to spend now and i have a drive from CT to IA and i dont want my car to blow up on me, will it run okay without tune?

also what can i get for that price that can i tune my car to run with these mods?

Basically, with a larger turbo, you will be able to push more air and possibly out-flow the injectors and fuel pumps ability to match the increased air with increased fuel. But right now you have the stock MAS and injectors so the ECU will be able compensate up until the airflow outruns the fuels systems ability to keep up.

So, you should be safe to drive with the setup you have as long as you keep the boost down to stock levels (10-12psi) and do not push the car hard until you have a way to tune the setup…by the way, to really tune safely and efficiently, a Wideband 02 sensor is a necessity.

As for tuning, there is and endless amount of info on this site specifically on this subject… I am no expert, but there are many here who are! But, for the price you mentioned you would most likely be limited to a SAFC or a DSMchip (or some other chip), the chip will not be adjustable, which is less flexible, you will need a new chip for future upgrades BUT you will get expert tuning when you buy it the chip. The SAFC can be adjusted for future upgrade but you will need to do it yourself (plenty of advice around here though).

I dont regret buying v3 lite.
That 16g at 12 psi will pull so much harder than the t25 did, Just keep the boost levels down to less than 14psi or so until you have enough cash for injectors, afpr, fuel pump and a way to tune, and you should be fine. Get a logger first before anything else so you can watch for knock

I would not worry about the drive as stated above just keep the boost low and start saving. I'd buy a walboro 255, rewire kit, either v3 lite or a 98/99 ecu and use ecuflash , lm-1 or lc-1, and injectors. Shop around and get alot of these used. After that you will have a pretty fun(reliable) setup.

get a wideband for 200 bucks... then start saving and learning to tune.

once u get it all figured out, u can get a good tune on ## car cheap if u do it yourself.

i use alot of megasquirt products personally..but to each there own

Run stock boost for now but 400 wont get you what you need for more boost unless you can find used. A good route to go would be injectors for sure, the stock fuel pump will be fine to 300hp but after that you need a 255lph pump and if you have larger injectors you have to have a way to tune for them so I would get a Maft Translator Gen II so You can tune on the fly for what ever boost you want as well as datalog and it has wideband capability. I use it and for the money It is the biggest improvement on my car.
