Spyder 2G Eclipse Spyder GS Catback exhaust

Hi Everyone!

Does anyone know if 2.0L - N/T cat backs also fit the 2.4L - N/T applications? Trying to find an aftermarket cat back system for my 97 Spyder GS, 2.4L

Any insight would be awesome!

I can't say with certainty, but it appears the 420A RS & GS catback system would fit a 2G spyder 4g64. The convertor and components pre-convertor are very different and are not compatible, but it looks like the catback should interchange. There were some differences with the stock muffler but the bends and hanger placement are very similar if not the same.

It seems like if there was interchangeability, manufacturers would advertise it as so. The catbacks only seem to be listed as fitting the 420A models though. But based on the diagrams, I think they will interchange. Maybe the convertor flange has different dimensions, but that is easily correctable with a quick welding job if so.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and the diagrams. A lot of listings I’ve seen so far are indeed for the 420A like you reference but some of them in parentheses say also fit the 2.4 L so I’ll venture to say they’re probably the same. I’m going to get underneath it tomorrow and look at some of the bends and see if I can do a visual match with what I see on the computer screen, worst case scenario, I send it back. Thanks again!
