I am looking at doing the evo 8 motor and awd swap in to my 97 n/t. I know that their are a lot of mods to get in to just bolt in to the motor bay. I want to know and you use the awd rear out an evo or can you use the one out of a 2g gsx ? and would the awd rear out of the 2g gsx bolt right up or is their other mods needed?

Like most people are gonna say, i think it's gonna be costly and you are better off geting a gsx. But if you got th cash then anything is Posibble .

^^^ Exactly. Why spend all that money when you can just buy a GSX with the same motor already installed with the AWD drivetrain for less money? You can get a 2G AWD for 2K if you are willing to travel some.

It is easier to convert a 2g to awd than it is a 1g. The 2g is straightforward compared to the 1g. There are a lot of parts you can swap from the 2g awd to the fwd car, but there is still some fabrication involved when doing the swap. As stated above, it might be easier just to buy a gsx instead of doing the swap, but it is all up to you. It is a time consuming process. Here are some links on it.

He is on a N/T platform so it might not be so straight forward in his case.

All 2g's share the same underbody, NT or not. The only difference with him doing a swap like this in an NT vs. a GS-T would be the added effort, money, and time in getting the engine and transmission installed.

OP: You'd save a lot of money by purchasing a GSX, or even doing an AWD conversion to a GS-T.

I'm finishing up my 2GNT to AWD conversion right now and actually, the 2GNT unibody is quite different than the 2G-AWD in many places. Most notably, the entire engine bay is reversed... frame rails, shock towers, radiator support, bolts holes, everything. The biggest problem is the transmission relief (hump) in the frame rails is on the wrong side... so some notching and boxing of the frame is required on the passenger side.

Regarding the EVO8-AWD swap... I do know that the EVO8 rear end differential has a different gear ratio than the 2G AWD rear end... and the gear ratio must match the transmission/transfer case for the driveline to function properly. However, I think there is a possibility that the EVO8 rear end will bolt-on to the 2G AWD rear subframe. If so, then that would be the answer.
