i kept up with a newer si with a b series swap with full greddy exhaust and intake.dunno if it was a b20 or 18 though,i forget.

okay okay okay??? let me get this? you kept up, with a newer SI  with a B series swap :| what engine would you suppose would be in the SI  just wondering

btw a civic si has like 200hp stock.

I used to be a honda guy and civic si b series are 160hp at the crank.

ShadowWulf is right. The reason civic si blows away n/t eclipse is because it is lighter and has a little more power than n/t eclipse. The d series in civic dx and lx are 100hp. The ex is also a d series and has 137hp or so because of the vtec. I mean come on. You can't take pride in beating a 100hp car.

the 420a in ur cars can be turboed and ur going to be waving good bye to hondas/acuras day long.

I'm not sure about how much hp a 420a engine can be turboed to but a civic si and integra engine can get a lot of power from turbo. Having a 420a and a civic turboed, the civic would win agian.

ive see so many integras, civics, crx's, accords blow thier motors up at the track becasue of turbo.

Any car that wasn't made for turbo is not going to take turbo as well as a factory turboed car. Those people who blow up their engine are mostly due to not tuning well. As long as you keep the car tune the car will not blow up. But a non turbo can only go so far being forced inducted. Even a n/t eclipse.

i've been reading in this forum for a while and it seems that it takes a lot more money to get a n/t eclipse into the 15 sec without turboing or any other forced indution than a honda. If you guys really want to keep being n/a and fast, you should've got a honda. They have more n/a potential. Otherwise it is better to have a turbo eclipse. No offense you guys. But honda do have more n/a potiential.

When stock for stock, some n/t eclipse will beat civics. It is all about the driver too. When they are evenly modded and the driver is the same level, Civic>n/t Eclipse.

thanks for the space.

when i race I just put it in L in stead of D and shift up to D after i start getting close to 6 or 6.5 rpm

and i also use overdrive which gives me alot more power

 tell me this same story in acouple of months i give you  about 4-5

The clostest race i had when i was stock was against and '04 Sunfire when i was stock, then i got CAI, Headers, and ran em open, and i pulled a car easy and kept walkin it, then with that stuff done i was neck and neck with a 98 Civic EX w/ an SI swap and Mugen or however you spell it..headers.

its funny hearing people talk about yahh i raced this car and i raced this car... but where is your goals? are you just trying to beat out all the cars that girls drive on the way to work? cause seriously beating out a cars with open headers this and all the little tricks everyone does is nothing to ramble on about in a thred... dont get me wrong i have a n/t eclipse to and i love the fact that i beat this guy or his friend but compare your self to the rest of the people out there your bragging about grapes when everyone else has apples?

i even said i was guilty of it too.. but iam saying someone needs to

CLOSE THIS THRED

cause it doesnt help out in anyway...

the 420a gets quite a bit from a turbo, my friend has a turbo neon...i know its lighter then the eclipse but the thing seriously flies. We have a kid intown with an Si b16 civic, n hes got everything u can imagine, this car blows alomst everything away in town...but it cant touch that neon

yes, BUT honda engines dont seem to like turbo too much..yet they handle revving and the eclipse motor handles more turbo

yes that is true...sigh id mention 1g but this is only 420a

Reading all of this kinda makes me wonder if I have factory freak n/t or something. Mine doesnt feel slow at all, and yes I have driven a turbo dsm and my n/t def. feels slow to that but with other cars I usually keep up and beat some of them. Cars that I have raced and beat are:

03 Acura Rsx (NOT Type S)
03Pontiac Grand Am GT
2001 Chevy blazer LS
98-01 Mustang V-6
98( i think) Dodge Neon

I know those cars arent anything to be proud of but you guys are sounding like you can't beat the minivan that pulls up next to you with 5 kids in it. Have some faith people,

Ok that last post will proably get this locked.

Anyways, the fast of the matter is (i believe) that in general, drivers being equal, we just kinda suck N/T. Were heavy, arent really high revers, and only 2.0 displacement.
For the cheap, a civic would be cheaper and end up faster if kept N/A.

But, the Eclipse is STILL sexier. I may not be the fastest on the road, but in my opinion i am one of the Sexiest and most unique

No problem man. It's like me not knowing much about 420 either.

True..girls dig eclipse more. I would have to say it is more pimp.

beat a mustang with a n/t eclipse  i don't think so unless the driver was crappy. Or you have way more more mod than a mustang...ahahaa I thought that they were in the 200hp-250hp range? with 200 something tq? sorry not much into mustang. i know that they are not that slow.

i duno about the revving part wulf, but 420a's can rev relitevely high.

but for the mustang comment, my 1.8L has a better chance at beating a mustang than the 420a does. remember 1.8L=light 1g=light vs 420a=heavier then 1.8L 2g=alot heavies (mystery weights). My 1.8L can rev to 6500 and past that safely. Also the newer mustangs arnt that heavy, i wont be surprised if the weight of the 2g talon/eclipse is similar to the mustangs (1996-2003) :barf:

A stock 1996-2003 v6 mustang with a ohc v6 has a 145-190hp range and 215-220 torque
Your 420a has 140hp and 130 torque  you tell me whos the winner

01 Mustang

3.8L 190 hp V6 220 lb-ft torque
Weight: 3114 lbs MT

95-99 DSM N/T

2.0L 140 hp I4 133 lb-ft torque
Weight: RS: 2754 lbs MT GS: 2842 lbs MT

0-60 times of some:
0-60 1/4 mile

Well for the revving part, i can safely get to 7K (that i trust...) with my 2g n/t

Ive been in a civic that routinely revs past that limit. Im not sure how much extra power there gonna actually get from hitting 8-9K, but they can do it.

A N/T Eclipse is definetly not the fastet car out there, but it has enough power if you ask me. I have drove and rode in a lot of the cars that you all have mentioned and my Eclipse either feels faster or about the same. Our cars definetly hands down look much sexier than most of the others. Plus with my Kumho Supra 712's my car feels like its glued to the road at 110 mph and keeps me confident. Other cars I have ridden in feel really squirelly at higher speeds. It handles like a dream, no body roll no tire sliding. So in the end I think even though it may not be the fastest out there. It still looks great, handles awesome, and is just a good all around car for the price.

BTW, how fast on top end is a N/T Eclipse?

I agree. It's not the measurable speed of a car that makes it fun to drive. Most people that ride w/ me think my car is much faster than it is. What contibutes to this is alot of things including these: manual tranny, voices overcome by exhaust note as the needle on the tach surges toward redline w/ every shift, the fact that the car is very low to the ground (this ads alot to sensation of speed--like a gocart), taking 90 degree corners without slowing down, and the very sporty styling of the car. Where I drive most of the time the redlights are about 400 ft a part so I can hang w/ most cars that I'm lined up with to a certain point. Every other car tries to out accelerate mine everywhere I go because they think my GS is extremely fast or something (especially rednecks in trucks). I wish I had a license plate that read "140hp."

Right now I drive a 91 LS Integra, I want to sell it and get a turbo DSM. But anyways.

I test drove a n/t Plymouth Laser, and the thing felt waaaay slow. I mean, my Integra really picks up and goes, but that Laser was really really slow.

Just thought I would add in my thoughts.

EDIT: I'm comparing these two cars, definitely NOT saying the Integra is fast (thats why I want a DSM) :thumb:

Yeah the Civic weighs about 500-600 lighter than us but having 107 ft-lbs of torque (probably at 3k rpm ) is very sad. The other day my freind drove my car and saids its much faster than his 1996 ex. I only have an intake, axle back, and a test pipe. You guy are forgetting that Horsepower is for bragging rights but torque get the jobs done. Stock for stock the Civic won't beat the Eclipse except the SI. But the Integra is a whole different story especially the 90-93 LS. :D

And the guy out there who said the Civic has more potenial is fogetting that 99% do not have the the D-series motors because its crap. The motor is these so called fast civic range from the B16(SI)-K20(Type S) also the H22 or the H23.

Also honda do not answer well to turbo's compared to any other Car make stock for stock. Espcecially with the V-tech motors who advance timing alot which is a no no on turbo cars. The high compression is a pain because it will only allow you to run 5-7 psi.

I love my car, sure my boyz will tell me that I'm the slow one when we take off on the highway somewhere for a long stretch, I'm the last one to get to 125mph, but once I'm there I'm just up with em.
I hang with all my buds who drive either 94+ integra's(RS,LS) 98 hatches(with GSR swaps), and CrX's with B-seris swaps. And they all can take me in the quarter or speed or whatnot, But when it comes time for the ladies to hop in a car, they all look to mine. I've got the seats in the back, and squish a couple in the middle if I have too. I leave my 12" sub in my trunk too cause I know when we are done with the races, the girls come to my car to hear the beats and stay warm inside.

Come on guys, just be proud that our cars look better, and if we really want too we could make em faster. It might cost us more, but for me I'd rather keep my sub and my girls, then beat these guys on a weekend race.

Whenever I pull up to the line, the guys say that N/T is slow, but the girls say so..but its so sexy! I'd like to keep it that way, and when I afford too trounce these guys with a turbo and obliterate them with a built/tuned motor.

Hey guys, I didnt mean to stir up anything saying raced and beat a mustang, I really did. The may have been a bad driver I dunno. Im sorry for saying 98-01 Mustang two gens ago i think. Looks like this one:

And it has been done before read this thread.

I believe you. Just because a car is tested faster doesn't mean the driver can drive as well as proffesional test drivers.

I was next to this old man in one of those late model GT's (02 or 03) with the ugly Bullit wheels, when the light turned he rolled off slowly but I shot out like a cannon ball. He reacted a few seconds later and I heard his car take a couple of seconds to downshift (must of been an auto) before I heard the roar of the V8 kick in but by that time I was gone and we were to the next light before he could catch up. I took a right on red before he had a chance to smoke me at this light. I could tell he was pissed.

Ha yeah, Eclipses (second generations) look MUCH better than any Honda.
