I am sure I may be opening a can of worms. I don't wanna hear all the negativity just productive feedback that is accurate.

So today I saw a video of an Evo Swap into the 2gnt (gs-rs) I did some digging on this board and others.. The only thing is I have no proof that the motor will even run. (feel free to post a video if so) It's very appealing to me as I love the 2g for the looks and love 4g63 AWD performance.. I bought the 420A for my wife as a project its complete but, she is in love with our 10' Ralliart. so this has kinda turned into my project. I have plenty of tools and, time. (just no welding equip.) I don't wanna hear buy a GSX crap. just positive feedback. Is this a possibility? and what would need to be changed? the one thing I kept thinking how dose the Mitsubishi ECU speak to the Gauge cluster? or is that as simple as splicing a new clip to the say speedo sensor? ECT ECT If this swap is doable I am going to be the Guenna pig on this, for this board. thanks guys.

here is the video. I called CMS and left a msg.\

No welding equipment or welding expierence, this isn't going to happen. You will need to heavily modify the front subframe for the transfer to fit. On a 2g awd the transfer case sits under the subframe. On a evo the transfer sits on top of the subframe. You will also have to fabricate motor mounts, adapt wiring, shift linkage, install awd rear suspension and drive shaft, and more. You will likely have 8-10k wrapped up in it pretty quick. I know you DON'T WANT TO HEAR buy a different car, but with out the ability to weld and fabricate parts you will never achieve this.

another interesting set of pics i found SANY5436 .. I have no welder.. but I can weld and fabricate but, to be honest fabing the sub-frame sounds risky.. I think you can run a GSX rear sub-frame? not sure though. and run the GSX Diff not quite sure what the differences are between the EVO diff and, the GSX diff maybe final drive gears. I really don't see 8-10K but, I'll take your word for it other than buying a $900-$1,000 Mig Welder and gas etc. and fabing some steel for mount relocation I see a lot of time invested for sure but, I am no expert and that's why I ask for an opinion and, expertise. I would most likely part with my motor and trans to achieve this. that would ease the cost of the motor. the motors are going for $2k-3k and a GSX rear sub-frame for 2-300 and all other rear suspension arms ect..

The swap that SANY5442 did did not involve a drive shaft or the rear diff. He just made a block off plate and a lot of other things to get it to work. A lot of effort has been put into his swap. I don't agree with how he made the mounts, I would be too afraid I would break one.

You can install a GSX rear diff. It would be a lot easier than trying to install an EVO diff. I friend on mine did it to his Spyder. I have seen EVO motors, transmission, computer and wiring harness for around 3k at the right place.

If your keeping this FWD just use the 3G eclipse 2.4 tranny. its the same bolt pattern and much cheaper and itll bolt on the Evo motor.

So would the CV's need modifications? would the 2g cv work or would you have to use the 3g cv's?

Well here's the next question do you want to slap something together and say I did the swap or do you want something that is functional. What is the purpose of the build is it going to be street legal? The easiest way I can think is to cut the entire top of both cars off and swap. That means finding a salvage EVO with no structural damage. I don't know what the wheel base differences are. If there is any.
If its not how about a mid engined 2g with an EVO motor and 3G tranny? That's what I want to do.

ya that would sink my bank account. It's more than likely doable but that would require crap loads on re-routing all wiring and relay boards and finding a way to keep the cabin quiet. then finding a way to seal off the engine bay ect.. but, it would be cool but, I don't have that kind of cash.

I agree with everyone that says this would require some heavy modding but I would still like to share some info on this subject.

This would probably be the best route for the rear subframe v

This would would be a start for the engine swap v
EVO 7/8 Motor into 97 Eclipse GS

This is just an idea for the front subframe, please note the only reason I posted this is because I have read that there is some speculation that the 3G subframe "MAY" fit a 2g. V

Again from what I have read the 3G sub frame is only an idea and I don't know if it can even be done.
