There will be no rental gear, I considered that but that would require "someone" to buy gear to loan out, I'm not even remotely interested in that. I am going to try to arrange a gear vendor be there to simply sell the products to whomever needs it.

That would work too. :) Just something to keep all the whining and crying to a minimum when people are told they can't run because they are wearing flip-flops, shorts, shortsleeves, and no helmets.

So what I would need if I get lucky and run a 10.5 pass FWD LOL. Long Sleeve shirt, pants, gloves,my race kar shoes LOL and a helmet. Just want to be prepared. I better start searching for a helmet now considering I have the biggest melon known to man. I would love to dyno but it says AWD only damn.

If anything, you can keep pants and a shirt in the car to wear over what you have on...

Thats an awesome picture right there. As for the pants and long sleeve shirt do you think my old army flight suit would work.... is one piece though. Also any one know if Icon helmets are approved for use there because i got three of them with no bike so if i can i might as well put them to use.

If they are SNELL2005 or newer they are compliant with SFI/DOT regulations. SNELL2000 expired this year.

The flight suit would work fine for long sleeves and pants; but not if you are required to be running SFI3.2A/5 fire jacket/fire pants. The real thing would then be needed.

GForce, Racequip, K1, ProFox and RJS are all very fairly priced brands for safety gear (1-piece suits, jackets, pants, etc.)

Simpson, Impact, Pyrotect, Sparco, Alpine Stars, Crow, Velocity and several others are more expensive brands for suits and gear.

Here are a couple of quality websites for finding safety equipment.

RacingDirect.com - Racing Suits > Auto Racing

SFI 5 - Multi-Layer Racing Suits

So i was just scrolling through the old post and saw the FIC pic of the trophys... Was there 1st, 2nd,3rd trophys for all classes? Just wondering because if theres one for bracket i need to make a phone call because i was clueless..

First, the rules still are not finalized. I will be posting the exact requirements for the helmets, fire jackets and pants as soon as we have them worked out. So don't buy anything yet.

For pants you need a pair of JEANS. For a shirt you need a 100% long sleeved COTTON shirt.

As for trophies, yes, there were 1-2-3 for every single class, if you didn't pick up your trophy at the event (as stated in the rules) you no longer have one coming, sorry.

Note taken! I know for the various other tracks I've been thoo, they've been ok with t-shirts and some kind of pants, until you get into the faster times (i.e. fire jacket). So, I shall be sure to bring the long sleeved shirt and jeans next year! :thumb:

My thoughts on the autocross, honestly are to wear the same thing you are required to run in the drags to be honest BUT I will go by NORA's rules (that's who runs the autocross for me) and long pants, shoes, t-shirt and helmet will be all that is required for the autocross.

Let me tell you guys what I see happening and why I am pissed off over the people who blatantly ignored the minimal safety gear I asked for. Here is how I see something bad going down, a little story if you will:

Random competitor says to his buddy, "Man did you see that?! Holy shit, that guy just ran a 9.50 and lost it, car flipped three times and caught on fire. The dragged the guy got out with no shoes, shorts, a t-shirt and no helmet!"

His buddy, "Wow, yeah, I don't think he's gonna live, the helicopter is coming now. It looks really bad, his head is nearly detached from it's torso. Someone is trying to hold it on so it doesn't roll down the track, it's crazy. You know that guy didn't have a rollbar either. It's incredible this track and Buschur let people race like that."

Same random dude, "Yeah, THE TRACK and BUSCHUR are real ####ing idiot douche bags for letting these guys do this all these years. Everyone knew it was going to happen sooner or later and now look, this poor guy is gonna die cause those two assholes didn't enforce full NHRA rules."

Yes, that is exactly how it's going to go folks. In the end, the dumb ass racer who didn't look out for himself, knew the risks involved and got hurt would NEVER be blamed, it would be on myself and the tracks fault. I personally refuse to put a cage in my street car and there are a TON of guys who feel the same and get to race one time a year at the Shootout because of how we run the event. Myself and Kevin do where full fire gear in the car though, right down to gloves and shoes and we are well aware of the risks and would never point our fingers at someone else if something did happen.

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm with Tim and was shocked to see so many fast cars running without proper safety gear/equipment. I'm glad you stepped up and made it mandatory - not only to cover your own ass, but also protect the people who didn't see it as a necessity. Very smart move.

Well that sucks ass, i didnt hear them say who finished where in the bracket classes at all. i remember all the hype being on the heads up classes ( which can be expected) at the end... oh well guess ill have to get a boost controller next year that works and win another.

The winners aren't announced, you are in a class and should know when you are in the last four guys left, when you are you made it to 3rd place. I got tired of holding onto trophies and prize money years ago, I figure if a guy can't make it to the awards ceremony to support his fellow racers or find out what he won he doesn't deserve to get it. I've had stuff here for weeks after the event and not been contacted for it, then finally toss the stuff and then get a call. It's not my responsibility to chase someone down or ship them their trophy/prize money. That's why the strict rule is in there that if you aren't present to collect you forfeit, just explaining how it works.

Dave, just want to confirm (if you have decided yet) what will be required for autox. I'd assume helmet, jeans, and shoes - just not sure if we're required to wear long sleeves as well.

Its amazing to hear the track rules in other state here (NJ,NY) you cant step foot on a track without a helmet, no matter how fast or slow your car is. To hear you have to tell people you have to wear long pants, shirts, SHOES AMAZING. I went to a track in Florida and some of the racers had passengers, I was like wow that would never fly up north.

And if your car runs 11 seconds and you have no roll cage your banned from the track until you have one installed.

I still don't think they were prepared for it though, as it took a while. I had a friend down track coming in the entrance right when it happened. He said there was no one around with a fire extinguisher at the end of the track. Anyway I believe this is the one that was a total loss there the one year. (I can't remember exactly when either though) Glad Jeff's didn't get this bad! :applause:

If I give credit for the picture to you do you mind if I use it in a video I am piecing together?

Just uploaded another shootout vid:
Kevin Jewer wheelie number 2, runs it out to an 8.45 @ 156 mph.
