I picked up a 1g Talon TSI, non-running (crank no start) and have been trying to figure out why it won't run. Fuel pump will not come on unless power is directly applied. I'm at my wits end with this thing and don't really know where to go from here, I've checked all of the usual suspects (MPI, ECU, Grounds) and haven't had any luck. If you would please take the time to shoot me a text/phone call and help me figure this out it would be GREATLY appreciated. Let me know.

If you need personal assistance you'll need to take it to a mechanic and pay them. People here can help but you have to be specific with what and how you have done your testing.

Here's a check list that can help you diagnose why it doesn't start.

A bad ECU is the most common cause of not starting on these cars so the simple check to make sure the ECU powers up properly is the first step then the typical process of checking for Air, Fuel, and Spark.

I assume you've checked the mechanical timing to verify that the belt is good and all the timing marks align. If so I like to get compression numbers next while you check to start and make sure the plugs aren't fowled.

Another common fault that keeps these cars from starting is a bad Engine Coolant Temp sensor. It's now so much that the ECT goes bad but that the wires degrade and break off. This causes the ECU to think it's very cold and flood the engine.

That CTS is a super common thing that @steve points out. I'd put a new one in and then go from there. Idk of a way to "go around it" temporarily.

Please fill out a vehicle profile and then tell us what you have done to this point? There are many reasons for a no start. What have you ruled out and how?
