Hey guys I'm new to the website I have a 1990 Eagle Talon all wheel drive turbo car, it's built from the ground up. I bought it and the guy bought it from didn't give me much information on the car. It was running fine, I parked it and lo and behold I came out the next morning to start it and no spark can you believe it!

Now without pushing the clutch in the car and in gear if I turn the key the car tries to start and drags itself along the road. I don't think this is correct, I'm pretty sure if the clutch is not engaged the car is not supposed to start unless it's in neutral and maybe not even then.

When I do push the clutch in and try to start it I get nothing just a quick from the battery if I let the clutch out and try to start it in neutral the car will turn over and crank but I have no spark.

I've been all through the car all the general easy stuff I'm looking for some answers guys can anybody help me out I may have to sell this car just because I don't have the money to invest cars in mint condition pretty much. Thanks for your help

How are you diagnosing no spark? Does your check engine light turn on for about 5 seconds when you turn on the ignition?

There's a wire/switch on the clutch pedal assy at the bottom of the throw that can be unplugged to allow it to start without disengaging the clutch. Usually people do that and start in neutral so you're not putting clutch pressure on the thrust bearing before it has oil pressure in an attempt to prevent crankwalk (which is uncommon on 90-92 6 bolt engines). There's also another switch used for cruise control at the top of the clutch throw. Is it possible the two wires got mixed up?

I will check the sensors and the wiring at the clutch pedal I'm very new to the car I'm not very familiar with anything that has been done to it before I got it so I'm just trying to get a ballpark generalization of what to do in this situation or if it could affect the no spark issue I will get back with you guys thank you

Lots of us disconnect the wire to the clutch switch so we can start in neutral without pushing the clutch pedal in.
Be sure to create a vehicle profile so we can get a better idea about what you have there. Congrats on your 1990!
