I recently purchased a 1g gsx and have since done 3" downpipe and stainless exhaust,16g turbo and it came With an aluminum rad.
I need help with what's next. My goal is 400hp.
what gauges? I was going to get a wideband and boost.
tuning? This is where I'm stuck bc I can't purchase inject its until I figure this out. I want to spend $300 for a tuning device.

You should up your budget on tuning to $500 and get v3 link. As far as a wideband, a/f gauge, boost gauge, and boost control, you can get all that in an Innovate SCG-1 gauge unit.

I've been looking for a good used dsm link. That gauge is out of my budget though.. If I can't would safc and 680cc suffice until I gathered up more money?

well injectors are a whole other story, but why spend 300 on s-afc that you have to botch up the ecu harness to get installed when you can buy the proper thing the first time for a little more money? even if it takes you an extra month or two of saving money ?

I'm not giving you a hard time, I've just been where you are and look back at the past pissed at myself for not listening. However those are the lessons I've learned that I'm passing on to you now.

Ok I purchased that one!
So I'm thinking 1000cc injectors, e85, wideband gauge, boost gauge and boost controller?

Get a wideband some 650ss ecmlink oil gauge maybe good clutch and make sure your transmission is up to par for the hp level, fuel pump rewire.

For $300 budget get a socketed EPROM ECU(or get your EPROM socketed), Grab a Moates Ostrich 2.0, and then from there head over to ds-map.net and grab Jackal for $20 if you want speed density thats super cheap and easy to use, or download TunerPro RT and stick with the MAF. Either way, you'll save about $450 over Link, and do all the same things.

GET DSMLINK, you absolutely cannot skimp on that and if you go download the program open someone elses log and just look at the simplicity of the interface and the diversity of options, you will be convinced. 1250cc injectors because you know you'll want a little more in the future ;) Which clutch you running? Which 16g is it? You'll have a bi*** of a time making 400wheel on a small 16g, though it's still very possible.

well the dsmlink I bought is for a 91-94 and I have a 90. and I read the faq about swapping it but I'm confused it sounds like I need the 6 wire power transistor from a 91-94 and wire that into the old harness?

First off, ditch the 16g and go with something along the lines of a hx35 or 20g. Both have the capabilities to bolt on as easy as a 16g and make 400whp MUCH easier. A wideband and a boost gauge is what you'll need. And for tuning, definitely go with dsmlink, as everyone else has said. Check out the classifieds and buy a package with a ECU and link installed already. It will be cheaper than buying new.

Well I bought a 91-94 1g ecu with dsmlink but am now reading I have to cut power transitor And wire into coil? I'm not sure on this and yes I read the process.

Ok if you searched through the forums and read all the threads then what you read is correct. If you dont feel comfortable doing it then buy a socketed 90 ecu and sell your current one. Otherwise you have to convert some parts and do some wiring

20g is perfect for 400whp. An hx-35 is more 500whp range but not too much more lag so it may be worth a look. An FP green would work as well as sort of a middle ground.
