does anyone who has taken out the rear subframe on a 1G know exactly what to unbolt in what order to make it easier on me? I have to retap some threads for the sway bar mounts. any suggestion is greatly appreciated

There are four main bolts that mount it up to the unibody. Make sure you unbolt both rear struts, both brake lines, and pull your driveshaft. Here is a picture of the connections.

Make sure you re-bleed your brakes, fill the diff back up, once you get it all back together. While its down I recommend cleaning and spraying to prevent rust, like I did here.

Solution
about how long does it take to get out?

Really depends on how fast you want to. I mean I can have my entire rear end out in about 20 minutes. Just like putting in a clutch on these cars, I can have the tranny out and in the car in 45 minutes.

It's all up to how fast you work and how accurate your knowledge is.
