Sub-frame Bushing Replacement

So I had my car in the lift and found that all my sub-frame bushings are dry rotted and crumbling away. Where do I get part numbers for replacements and has anybody had any experience replacing them?

If it is the rear sub-frame you will have to remove it and have the old one's pressed out and the new one's pressed in. You can get OE ones, Prothane or solid aluminum ones. As far as part numbers, check our vendors.
 
The bushings have to be pressed. Because my car will get a little squirly goin around a corner and i reasearched and found where the bad bushings will cause it. Do they really have to be pressed or can you do it yourself like i was planning on?

YES YES YES - my car gets a little "squirley" in the front when I corner hard. That is why I had it on the lift trying to find out what it was.

Where do I get the part numbers for the OEM replacements for front and rear?

I need both badly. I am going to take it to a shop and have them installed, with all the rusted parts I cant do it.
 
I had to replace a front subframe bushing in my 2g. I pressed it in with a bench vise and some creativity.
 
Im not saying its not possible but if your comfortable with doing it yourself than go for it, its not hard like turbosax said but if you know what your doing and ok with it than it goes along pretty easy

Wow, thanks for the info guys. Would it be best to drop the whole car off to have this done?
 
I've wanted to do this for awhile (polyurethanes) but I've read over and over again about how much of a pain it is I've put it off. I hate working on old rusted suspension while laying on my back having dirt and rust fall into my eyes LOL.


I will do this one day however, maybe next winter LOL.

Yeah I really hate not doing my own work on my car, but for this job I'm considering it, depending on how cheap I can get it done, and I'm betting it won't be cheap (I want to do all the bushings)

Also you want to think about using polyurethane bushings instead of the oem, not sure what the price difference is but you might as well do it right the first time while you're in there, if you would like to have a better suspension that is.

The poly bushings aren't for everyone though since they make your ride rougher, so do a little research first, but it's definitely something to look into.
 
Anybody have part numbers for all the polyurethane sub-frame bushings? I looked on slowboy racing's site and they dont give me pricing/part numbers.

I am a bargain shopper and will use the part numbers to find the cheapest price possible.

I first had poly bushings and now I have all sold or heim joints on the suspension.With the poly or the heim joints the ride did not get any rougher or extra noise.The exhaust and the fuel pump makes more noise.You must check the susppension at least once a year for lubrication.They don't have flex built them like rubber.

I think Ray Peters has some rear sub frame bushings again.They are for all wheel drive
If you are cheap then you better get under your car and do it yourself.It will cost you dearly if a shop does it.I would guess at least a days work, $ 800.00
