Okay so im looking to replace the shifter bushings on my 98 gsx, but im sure which kits to get. I thought i just needed the shift plate bushings but do i also need to get the underhood bushings as well?

thanks in advance

:thumb:Well with my car i personally went with the energy suspension brand for the shifter plate bushings and noticed a pretty decent difference. The only reason I went with that kit though is because I got it very cheap on ebay from somebody who opened box but not the bag they were in. Then I went on ebay and spend 7 dollars on the cable bushings for under the hood. If I were you I would get both sets because they will make the shifter feel way more solid.

thanks everyone. just ordered both sets :)

Hey buddy.
I'm wondering where you get your bushings from? i got my in car bushings fromt a kit that came with suspension bushings also from Energy Suspension, now my problem is, that when i took the center console off i cant really tell where it goes :(.. so please you think you can give me a bit of guide here, on where i can get the under the hood parts and where the inside bushings go..

Thank You.

? a little confuse, just need to make sure, the the steeped bushing is the one that goes under? with the small diameter facing up? im i correct?

He is referring to a different bushing kit, not the energy suspension kit. On the ES kit the stepped bushing goes on top facing down and the ring bushing goes undereath the metal plate.

Sorry I was referring to the Symborski kit, that's what I bought, and it's what I misunderstood that the OP had boiught

I personally like the symborski kit because it also comes with a sleeve that also tightens up the movement of the connecting bolt or whatever the heck it's called

im also looking into stepping up the shift bushings. i heard about the kits and the cheap but good alternative, which is the skate bearings. i know i need the sleeve (goes under the shifter) that comes with that kit because thats where half the play is coming from. the other loose component is where the "arm", just behind the shifter, is bolted down. so i was hoping to see if anyone knew if these parts were covered by any of the bushing kits availiable....if anyone can make sense of what im asking.

I, too, am looking to replace the bushings in my 1G. The more reliable the better.

you wont regret doing the bushings, it gives a more positive shift feel, no more slop!!!

Yes, sir. I just want the added comfort due to the power levels I sit at. I cannot afford something going *kaboom* with me missing a shift.
